Geauga Dairymen

Geauga Dairymen 4-H Club held a meeting on Feb. 17 where two new members were welcomed and officers were elected. Officers include: Dominic Ferrante, president; Garrett Hastings, vice president; Maddy Johnson, secretary; and Travis Johnson, treasurer.

The details of the Ohio 4-H week were discussed. The club will promote 4-H through a window display at First American Title in Chardon. The display will be up March 3-9.

Participation in a candy bar sale was also voted on that will be part of this years fundraising. A discussion about changes to the club constitution and bylaws took place and the changes will be voted on at the next meeting.

The club also discussed some fun activities to do such as bowling, laser tag and a pizza party. Information will be gathered and brought to the next meeting.

The meeting was adjourned and the Hoards Dairymen annual judging contest was distributed. Members are to bring their animal placements to the next meeting.

The next meeting will take place on March 10 at 1 p.m. at a members house.

Feathers and Fleece

The Feathers and Fleece 4-H Club is off to another great start as it begins its second year as a Geauga County club. The club already held a Christmas square dance in December and collected food for Geauga County family Christmas baskets.

The 2013 club officers are: Jennifer Montazzoli, president; Annie Kinkopf, vice president; Anna Montazzoli, secretary; and Joseph Wolf, treasurer.

There will be speakers come to the March and April meetings to talk about raising great quality meat projects.

Club members raise market lambs, meat chickens, ducks, turkeys, hogs and rabbits.

They are all looking forward to the Great Geauga County Fair Aug. 29 through Sept. 2.
