Geauga Hunger Task Force Benefit Planned Dec. 7-8

The Good Tidings Benefit Choir, 85 voices strong, is once again going to perform their musical magic for the community Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Notre Dame Cathedral Educational Center Chapel, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson.

Celebrating its 24th year, the popular program raises money through goodwill offerings for the Geauga Hunger Task Force, which consists of seven emergency food pantries throughout the county.

The Good Tidings choir will be performing many Christmas selections including a portion of GF Handels Messiah. Also performing will be Pilgrim Brass, the bell choir from Chardon Methodist on Saturday and the hammered dulcimer group If I had a Hammer on Sunday.

All attending will be invited to sing the Hallelujah chorus at the closing of the program.

Admission is free, but a goodwill offering will be collected. Reservations are not necessary.

Miracle on 34th Street

Is the department store Santa the real thing or is he just a kindly, confused gentleman who calls himself Kris Kringle? A little girl wants to believe in his magic, and this Santa challenges her mothers cynical convictions.

Miracle on 34th Street, presented by Geauga Lyric Theater Guild and directed by Patty Osredkar, will open Dec. 6 on the Geauga Theater stage in Chardon. The play, based on a story by Valentine Davies, closely follows the 1947 classic movie version.

Sponsored by Chardon Smile Center and produced in association with Dramatic Publishing Co. of Woodstock, Ill., the production will run Dec. 6-22.
