Miracle on 34th Street And Santa Arrive At Geauga Theater

The heart-warming holiday classic Miracle on 34th Street, presented by Geauga Lyric Theater Guild and directed by Patty Osredkar, is on stage at the Geauga Theater in Chardon. Adapted by Mountain Community Theater and based on a story by Valentine Davies, the play closely follows the 1947 movie version. All ages are sure to enjoy this beloved seasonal tale.

Sponsored by Chardon Smile Center and produced in association with Dramatic Publishing Co. of Woodstock, Ill., the production runs through Dec. 22.

Another popular community holiday event will return again this year. Santa Claus will be hearing the wishes of young believers at the annual Santa at the Theater event on Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free community program will include crafts, games and refreshments. The newly formed GLTG show choir, The Geauga Gems, will perform for the first time ever on the Geauga Theater stage and thank Warm-A-Child Ministries for its support.

December also brings the following seasonal class performances: A Charlie Brown Christmas at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 15 and 16, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 and the musical Humbug! at 7 p.m. Dec. 18. The youth productions are free of charge, but donations accepted and appreciated.

Catch Holiday Spirit With GANG

On Dec. 17 from 6:30-8 p.m., Nicky Bucur will lead the Geauga Arts Network Group (GANG) in songs of the season at Heinens Cafe, 402 Center St. in Chardon. Host for the evening will be local playwright Joanne Durante. The entertaining program is free and open to the general public; no reservations are necessary.

Bucur is a Geauga County resident who as a freelance musician and hospice volunteer has been bringing joyful music to area families and organizations for two decades. In addition to leading the GANG in song, he will be inviting fellow musicians, singers, artists and writers to share their own works and works by fellow artists, in celebration of the holiday season.

The Geauga Arts Network Group is an ad hoc group whose mission is to promote communication, collaboration, and cooperation across artistic disciplines for artists living and/or working in Geauga County. For more information, call Joanne Durante at 440-729-6481.
