Sheriff’s Report

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriffs Office Dec. 20-26. In total, the sheriffs office handled 269 calls during this seven-day period.

Animal Problem

Dec. 23

12:56 p.m. Brakeman Road, Hambden Township. Called to say she believes someone let her horses out. Deputy met with both parties and saw no evidence to the allegation. Parties have on-going dispute over horses.

Domestic Dispute

Dec. 25

8:19 p.m. Park Drive, Middlefield Township. Caller said his mother broke a glass storm door trying to get into the house and refuses to leave.

Extra Patrol

Dec.23

11:54 a.m. Paradise Waste and Recycling requested an extra patrol in Auburn, Troy and Parkman townships. On Dec. 22 some residents in the area attached envelopes with money to their pink trash cans and when the workers went to empty the trash cans the money had been stolen.

Dec. 24

2:04 a.m. Music Street, Newbury Township. Beachwood Police Department requested special attention for address of a woman who was the victim of an aggravated robbery around 11 p.m. Dec. 23 in Beachwood. An unidentified man approached her vehicle and fired a few rounds into her car from a small handgun then took her purse. GCSO reported no suspicious activity at the address.

Dec. 25

1:41 p.m. Moseley Road, Thompson Township. Caller said a neighbor believed someone was casing her home but when the neighbor turned on his lights, the car took off. Caller will not be home and asked for an extra patrol.

Fire

Dec. 23

12:32 p.m. Old State Road, Parkman Township. Caller reported a chimney fire in a woodshop that appears to be spreading to the structure.

10:17 p.m. on GAR Highway in Hambden Township. A passer-by reported a structure fire.

Juvenile Problem

Dec. 25

9:32 p.m. GAR Highway, Chardon. Caller said a group of juveniles in a white sedan were parked at Circle K asking people to buy them alcohol.

Suspicious

Dec. 24

11:57 a.m. Music Street, Newbury Township. Woman called to report a man took pictures of her house, which is 500 feet off the road. Deputy spoke with husband who said hed talked to an insurance agent who was going to take pictures of the home. His wife was unaware of the arrangements.
