Charles Lewis Rickard
CHARDON TWP. – Charles Lewis “Lew” Rickard, of Chardon Township, died Jan. 19, 2014, at his home. He was 94.
Born April 17, 1919, in Chardon, to Charles and Maude (nee Lewis) Rickard, he had been a lifelong Chardon area resident.
Lew was second generation owner and operator of Rickard’s Bakery on the square in Chardon, retiring in 1986.
He was an active member of the Chardon Volunteer Fire Department, serving as the fire chief for 13 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Robin (Tom) Flyer, of Chardon Township; grandson, Matthew (Lynn) Flyer, of High Point, N.C.; sister Carol Miller, of Florida; and many extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Floy L. (nee Mordoff) Rickard; son, Mark Rickard; and sister Vivian Willman.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Jan. 23 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
A private family burial will take place.
