Line Dancing: Mondays, 1 p.m. Although Dorothy Busse, the center’s instructor for 21 years, has hung up her dancing shoes, the group is still dancing and having fun. Please join us. No experience necessary.

The Good Times Band: The senior band is looking for new members to join this small, but mighty, group of musicians. Practice is held every Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.

May 7, 10:30 a.m. Speaker Geauga Savings Bank will make a free presentation on how to protect oneself from investment fraud.

Hospice Speaker: May 7, 11:30 a.m. A hospice representative will lead a discussion on dispelling myths about hospice.

Site Meeting: May 7, 12:30 p.m. Seniors have an opportunity to go over current events and plan for upcoming ones.

Senior Independence: May 7. Jeanne will be speaking on deep breathing and relaxation techniques. The nurse will be also be here doing blood pressure checks.

Tai Chi: Thursdays, 2:15-3:15 p.m. An alternative therapy that promotes the circulation of energy within the body in slow, gentle movements, tai chi helps to align the body and strengthen balance, making every day basic tasks easier. It is great for arthritis relief.

Register For Claridon Twp. Senior Trash Pickup

Claridon Township Trustees are joining forces with the Geauga County Department on Aging for the Claridon Township Senior Trash Pick-Up Day May 15.

To register for trash pickup, one must be 60 years of age or older and live in Claridon Township. The township road crew and the Department on Aging will pick up refuse from registered seniors who need assistance and take it to the township dumpster.

No liquids, paint or other hazardous materials, construction debris, rocks, yard waste or household garbage will be accepted.

A maximum of four tires off the rim, propane tanks, appliances and other unwanted items will be accepted.

Only 10 household items per home and the trash should be from the registered senior’s household only. Items must be left outside the garage, not curbside.

Seniors must be registered with the Department on Aging prior to pickup.

To register, call the Department on Aging at 440-279-2130, 440-564-7131 ext. 2130 or 440-834-1856 ext. 2130 weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please indicate if assistance is needed removing items from the home.

Please have the following information available when calling: senior’s name, address, phone number, date of birth and a list of items needing removed.

Senior Celebration

The Geauga Department on Aging will host its 41st annual Senior Celebration May 5 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Notre Dame Provincial Center, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson. A day to commemorate all denominations of faith, the theme is “Celebrating God’s Presence in Nature.” Included in the program is a prayer service and faith sharing.

The speaker will be Sr. Melanie Svoboda, a writer, retreat director, presenter and former Provincial of her religious community.

Event includes a catered lunch by Aladdin Food Service.

Deadline to sign up is April 25. Cost is $10. Transit is available, but additional charges may be incurred.

Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP

The Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP 4527 will hold its meeting and annual spaghetti lunch catered by Cafe Michael’s on May 13 at 1 p.m. at the Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township. Reservations are required; call Betty Scholz at 440-338-8321 by May 1.
