Award-winning local artist Judy Takacs will share her work with the Geauga Arts Network Group (GANG) on May 20 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Heinen’s Cafe, 402 Center St. in Chardon. Host for the evening will be Nancy Watkins, founder of Special Hands Artists. No reservations are necessary for the educational program, which is free and open to the general public.
Takacs has been “a painter of people” since graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1986 and was awarded Best of Show at last November’s Valley Art Center Juried Show.
She exhibits her work frequently and was the recent recipient of an Ohio Arts Council Grant for Individual Artistic Excellence for her provocative Chicks with Balls project, which will be a topic of discussion at the GANG program.
Takacs was recently honored with Signature Status by the Akron Society of Artists. She is also on a short list of legendary Cleveland artists whose work is archived at the Artists Archives of the Western Reserve.
The Geauga Arts Network Group is an ad hoc group whose mission is to promote communication, collaboration and cooperation across artistic disciplines for artists living and/or working in Geauga County.
