The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 18-25. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 370 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

July 24

11:01 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Caller states that there is a dog that is charging them in their yard, and it wasn’t allowing her husband to get out of his car. Her husband is inside at this time and the dog is still in the yard. Caller believes that the dog does have a collar and she does not know who owns it. Deputy advised. Light brown pit bull. Attempted to locate the owner, but was not able to. Dog was transported to Geauga Dog Warden, and put in outside pen.

CIVIL DISPUTE

July 22

6:24 p.m., Mumford Road, Troy. Hang up, call back two times, busy both times. Resident called back, advised the neighbor cut down a maple tree on property that doesn’t belong to them. The owner of the property with the maple tree lives in Vermont. Caller was calling for them. Parties are separated.

EXTRA PATROL

July 22

6:12 p.m., Kile Road, Montville. Caller reported suspicious looking cars in the park, just wants a deputy to drive through the parking lot. No description of cars was provided. Owner will call back with further info. Deputy advised. No problems reported or observed.

HARASSMENT

July 21

2:40 p.m., Fairgate Blvd., Newbury. Neighbor has a video camera pointed at complainants residence. They have broken a drain pipe and it is flooding the complainants property. She has contacted EPA?Soil and Water township trustees and Health Department. Complainant was advised of delay due to other calls. Deputy advised. Neighbor broke a culvert pipe. Water is backing up in their yard. The Health Department was given a written complaint.

NOISE PROBLEM

July 18

12:43 a.m., Nicki Lane, Hambden. Teens down the road playing music, drinking, and yelling. Unknown of the exact address. Caller asked the teens to quiet down, and they did so but they are still loud. Deputy advised. Checked the length of Nicki and sat stationary in the area. Unable to locate any loud music, talking or otherwise.

SUSPICIOUS

July 18

9:16 p.m., Bundysburg, Huntsburg. Caller reported a half hour ago, a blue and white dirt bike pulled up next to them and flashed a gun. The subject was wearing a mask, traveled south then north on Bundysburg from Burton Windsor. Unknown where bike is now. Deputy advised. Spoke with complainant, and his sons. They said they had never seen this motorcycle in the area before, and the rider had a mask on. Complainant said the motorcycle pulled up beside the buggy, and put his hand on a gun then drove off. I checked the area for the motorcycle, but was unable to locate.

July 19

11:21 p.m., Tavern Road, Parkman. Caller advised while going down the road south of Nash in his buggy, someone tore the back curtain open and scared him. The caller was not harmed at all. He did not see anyone or any vehicles. Deputy advised. Spoke with the complainant, he advised that on his way north on SR168, north of Nash Road, the rear flap of the buggy opened, he didn’t see or hear anyone, and he thought they fastened it before they left the Nelson Road area. I checked the area and was unable to locate anyone in the area.

July 21

11:41 p.m., Washington St., Auburn. Caller would like to make a report on a male trying to entice her 20 year old daughter into his vehicle. The daughter has autism. The car was an older model Cavalier, unknown color. Occurred around 10-10:30 p.m. Daughter was walking on Valley Road near Lake LaDue.

July 24

4:16 a.m., Welk Road, Chardon. Caller states his mother’s cell phone received two calls, the first went to voicemail and sounded like gun shots. The second was answered and it was the same thing, the phone number was blocked. Deputy advised. Spoke with complainant, and she said she had received three calls from a blocked number. Complainant said they did not say anything, she just heard gun shots, and then they would hang up. Complainant said she has no idea who would do this, and she has not had any trouble with anyone recently. Complainant also said this is the first time she has received prank calls like this. Advice was given, and complainant was advised to call if the calls continued.

THEFT

July 20

7:23 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Newbury. Caller advised lion statues were stolen from her front yard. She said it had to have happened in the last week. No suspects. Deputy advised. Decorative fiberglass lions were stolen. Complainant wanted it to be on record only.

TRESPASSING

July 20

4:13 p.m., Chardon Windsor Road, Claridon. Caller advised there are trespassers in the woods. The caller advised she has no idea who the subjects are. They are in the woods riding dirt bikes. The caller advised the subjects were also in the woods last night and this morning they found shotgun shells in the woods. Deputy checked area, no dirt bikes or ATV’s observed. Advised resident to call if ATV’s return.

July 21

8:33 p.m., Bell St., Newbury. Caller thinks his daughters boyfriend has been trying to get into their residence. He is not supposed to be at the location. Caller believes he has been coming over possibly when the daughter is home alone. Deputy advised. Advise given about a restraining order.

VANDALISM

July 24

7:14 p.m., Clark Road, Chardon. Caller states that within the last couple hours someone came and tried to take our flag. They were unsuccessful, so they slashed it instead. Deputy advised. Complainant wanted it documented that somebody cut her American Flag, removing it from the pole. It was out by the roadway, not visible from the house. Unknown when this occurred. No suspects, she requested the incident be documented only.

WELFARE CHECK

July 23

5:58 p.m., Tavern Road, Parkman. Thirteen year old son is visiting his father and has stated the father leaves a loaded pistol laying around to shoot racoon with. Caller is worried her son may get ahold of the gun and she would like a welfare check to make sure it is not laying around while he is there. Deputy advised. No report, no violation at residence. Weapon was unloaded in the fathers bedroom.
