GLTG Auditions and More
Auditions for “Bye Bye Birdie,” the Skip Kelly Youth Production at Geauga Lyric Theater, will be held Oct. 25 and 26 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at the Geauga Lyric Arts Center at 106 Water St. in Chardon.
Directed by Bruce Bogart, auditions are open call. No appointment is necessary.
Please prepare 32 bars of an up tempo song and a monologue no longer than 1 minute. All roles are open to youth from eighth grade to age 21. Show dates are Jan. 23-25, 30-31 and Feb. 1 and 6-8. Rehearsals will begin in November.
For more information on the show, visit www.tams-witmark.com.
Geauga Lyric Theater Guild is also seeking instructors in performing and visual arts for the 2015 winter and spring educational program. Class proposals should enhance and broaden the skills of participants. Apply online at www.geaugatheater.org.
New instructors should also submit a resume and references. Deadline for class proposals is Nov. 7. Any questions or inquiries may be directed to Julie Douglass at the Arts Center, 440-285-7701.
Plans for the Christmas show, “Annie Warbucks,” are well under way and will include an opportunity for area artists to display their work. All ability levels and ages are invited to participate in an art contest in conjunction with this spirited holiday production running Dec. 5-21.
Orphan Annie dreams of being adopted by Daddy Warbucks, inspiring this year’s contest theme, “Christmas Hopes and Dreams.”
The art submitted will be displayed in the theater lobby during the run of the musical. Audiences will have the opportunity to vote. There will be winners in three age groups: under 10, 10-15 years old, over 16 through adult, earning them complementary tickets to a future GLTG production.
Art work in any medium is welcome. Entries can be framed or unframed, no larger than 11×14-inches, with the artist name, age, address, phone and title of piece on the back.
Entries should be dropped off by Dec. 1 at the Arts Center at 106 Water Street during business hours. Artwork must be picked up from the theater on Dec. 21 by 5 p.m.
