Gloria Armstrong
BAY VILLAGE – Gloria (nee Cassler) Armstrong, age 82, died peacefully at her home in Bay Village, surrounded by her family.
Born Dec. 23, 1931, in Canton, to Lester and Dorothy Cassler, she was a resident of Burton for 26 years before moving to Bay Village.
Gloria was married to The Rev. William H. Armstrong for 61 years.
She was a longtime member of the Burton Congregational Church of The United Church of Christ, where her husband served as pastor.
While her husband was a staff member in the Peace Corps, she volunteered to teach English in Africa.
She served as the head guide for Century Village in Burton and was an elementary school volunteer, assisting children with learning disabilities.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, The Rev. William H.; children, Lonson, of Westlake, Elaine (Erick) Kasten, of Virginia, Lester (Janell), of Cleveland, and William Jr. (Erin), of Cleveland; seven grandchildren; and sister Kay Hollestelle, of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Dorothy Cassler; and sister Jean Auld.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 at West Park United Church of Christ, 3909 Rocky River Drive, Cleveland, where the family will receive friends immediately following the service.
