Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP

The Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP 4527 will meet April 7 at 1 p.m. at the Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township.

Ike Brooks will present a program on baseball heritage and the Cleveland Indian’s League Park. After the program, there will be a brief meeting and refreshments.

Upcoming bus trips include a trip to Seneca Allegheny Casino on April 22 for $38, with a slot bonus of $29 and food bonus of $5; and a trip to Presque It’sle Casino on May 27 for $27, with a slot bonus of $35. Contact Skip or Marge at 440-338-3607 if interested.

Food, paper products and other items will be collected for the Food For Friends food pantry as well as donations to the Geauga County Dog Shelter. It needs dog food, leashes, laundry detergent, paper towels, old blankets, towels, hot dogs and monetary donations for medical needs.

Register for Spring Clean-Up

Senior citizens 60 years of age or older who own their homes in Geauga County and need assistance with spring yard cleanup should call the Department on Aging by April 11. The Department on Aging works with local volunteers to help clean up the yards.

To be on the spring cleanup list, one must be registered with Geauga County Department on Aging. No rental properties, please.

Register for Chester Twp. Senior Trash Pickup

Chester Township Trustees and Chester Road Department are joining forces with the Geauga County Department on Aging for the 2015 Chester Township Senior Trash Pick-Up Days April 13-15.

To register for trash pickup, one must be 60 years of age or older, live in Chester Township and be registered with Geauga County Department of Aging. The Chester Township Road Crew and the Department on Aging will pick up refuse from the senior’s home.

No liquids, paint, or other hazardous materials, construction debris, rocks, yard waste or household garbage will be accepted. A maximum of four tires off the rim and appliances, furniture and TVs will be accepted. All material should be consolidated in strong boxes and items should be kept dry and covered with a tarp if possible.

Only 10 household items per home and the trash should be from the registered senior’s household only. Items must be left outside of home or garage by April 12. Do not leave items curbside.

The senior, or someone 18 years or older that is appointed by the senior, must be home on the day of the pickup and sign a release for the items that will be picked up.

Register for Munson Twp. Senior Trash Pickup

Munson Township Trustees and Munson Road Department are joining forces with the Geauga County Department on Aging for the Munson Township Senior Trash Pick-Up Days April 20-23.

To register for trash pickup, one must be 60 years of age or older, live in Munson Township and be registered with Geauga County Department of Aging. The Munson Township Road Crew and the Department on Aging will pick up refuse from the senior’s home.

No construction or remodeling debris, liquids, paint or other hazardous materials, rocks, yard waste, household garbage, televisions, computer monitors or small appliances with electrical components will be accepted.

Reduce wood or pipe to six-foot or less lengths. To prevent possible bed bug transferal, mattresses must be wrapped in plastic and securely taped or they will not be taken. Consolidate all small materials in strong boxes or containers

Unbroken car batteries, lawn mowers and a maximum of four tires off the rim will be accepted. To dispose of a junk auto or truck, call the township at 440-286-9255.

Residents are reminded that newspapers, magazines and cardboard are recyclable. Separate them out for recycling at a later date. Residents are also asked not to bring items that can easily be disposed of in the resident’s weekly curbside pickup.

When calling, provide the senior’s name, address, phone number, date of birth, last four digits of social security number and a list of items needing removal. The cleanup is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The number of senior residents that can be served is limited.
