Young of Heart

June 5, noon

St. Anselm Young of Heart will meet at the Parish Center. The speaker will be Jim Toman, who will talk about “the Sophisticated Ladies on Euclid Avenue.” It’s about the big department stores that used to be downtown.

On July 24, a trip is planned on the Gateway Clipper Lunch Cruise in Pittsburgh, which will have a Neil Diamond tribute. The boat will drop the group off at the Rivers Casino. Guests will receive $15 in free slot pay and $5 for food. Cost is $78 ($81 for non-members). Call Jeri for reservations, 440-729-2239.

Daytime Senior Book Groups

Seniors who love to read are invited to join in interesting discussions on a variety of books.

Book discussion groups are held the second Monday of every month at Geauga West Library from 1-2 p.m. and the second Thursday of every month at Burton Public Library from 1:30-3 p.m.

A group will discuss “The Husband’s Secret” by Liane Moriarity on June 8 at Geauga West Library and “12 Years a Slave” by Solomon Northrup on June 11 at Burton Library.

Discussion books are available for loan at the hosting library. Call the library to reserve a book.
