Thank You, Everyone —
It has been a year since the Maple Leaf interviewed myself and my wife, Linda, prior to the DTJ Taborville Harvest Festival in 2014. On Aug. 9, 2015, I was pleased to once again be the parade marshall of the 81st year of the Harvest Festival.
It was a huge success thanks to many volunteers, from participants in the parade, cooks who prepared all the Czech and American food, servers, ticket sellers both at the entrance gate and food booths, set-up and clean-up crews, and everyone who worked at/and for the festival, etc.
Also, I wish to thank the Auburn Township fire and road departments, along with the sheriff’s office, and The Illuminating Company. All of these people responded very quickly to an emergency that occurred. A huge tree limb cracked and downed electrical lines along the parade route which were sparking and causes some smoking to occur.
Everyone responded in record time and worked very hard to expedite clearing debris in and around the road. The tree limb was removed from the tree, cut into smaller pieces and the branches, etc. were cleared from the road. The Illuminating Company installed a new pole and rerouted the electrical lines so the parade could proceed with only one hour delay.
Thank you, everyone.
Dave Zmek, Parade Marshall
Auburn Township
