Blaming Amish
The article about blaming the Amish students for the reading scores is ridiculous as is the Editor’s Note following Scott Hunt’s letter. The treasurer states she is not “blaming” the Amish pupils, just “explaining.” If she’s “explaining” the Amish students are a factor in the low scores, then to me that is blaming them.
It has come at a poor time as well since so many blame the Amish for a lot of the “nos” on the school votes. I personally know many of my fellow Amish (and myself) vote yes on those each year.
I would also like to point out she said the Amish students and special needs students are “outside factors.” Again, how is that not blaming them?

Proud Thompson Resident
As I went around the square in Thompson the other day and looked at the beautification of the Administration Building, which has recently been repaired and painted all by volunteers, the revitalization of the Community Center ( town hall ), which is nearing completion thanks to grants from the county and state of Ohio, I was extremely proud to be a resident of Thompson.
Along with the improvements at the Thompson United Methodist Church and the Thompson Fire Station, as well as the gazebo in the park, Thompson Square is becoming a beautiful area.
The purchase of the former Ledge-mont High School, although just off the square, by the Lantern Group for senior housing of some sort will also be revitalized.
Thanks to all the volunteers, Thomp-son Township Trustees, Geauga County Com-missioners and Geauga County Department of Community & Economic Development as well as private investors who are making a commitment to our community.
