The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 24 through June 30. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 323 calls during this seven-day period.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
June 25
11:28 p.m., Cory Lane, Newbury. There was a graduation party, it started getting out of control. The owner’s started kicking people out and they are just hanging in the street. Caller is stating to “bring multiple cars.” Caller states there were multiple people at the party and approximately 40 in the roadway. Some of the kids were from other schools. Caller states there are some neighbors out in the road talking to the kids and trying to get them to leave. Deputy spoke with the homeowner who stated a bunch of kids showed up that were not welcome and they were kicked out. The kids left about 5 minutes prior to deputies arrival.
June 28
1:52 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. White minivan parked at Hambden Township Park. Female has her baby in the car with no AC running. She is over sitting on a park bench watching her other kids. She has been checking on the baby but it’s too hot. Deputy responded. Baby was asleep, not sweating, cool to touch. Windows complete with shades that kept sun out but air flowing. Mother checked on the child while other children from the family played on swings.
LITTERING
June 27
9:35 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Sometime between 2:45 p.m. Friday and 6:15 a.m. today, someone dumped a large copy machine near our dumpster. The school has cameras near the dumpster and they would like deputies to go to the board office and view the video. School custodian will be on the second floor moving furniture. The deputy can enter through the front door or the back cafeteria door if they need to meet with the custodian. Employee with copier from a trailer. No report.
NOISE PROBLEM
June 30
10:30 p.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. This address has been playing very loud music for the past few hours. Caller was advised of the noise ordinance laws. Requesting a deputy to make a request for the music to be turned down. Deputy spoke with the residents who stated they were having band practice and were done for the evening.
SUSPICIOUS
June 30
11:10 p.m., Walking Stick Lane, Hambden. Caller states her dog ran to the back of her property and is barking at something. Caller states she thinks there is something in the woods, she is afraid to go back there to see. She was shining her headlights in that direction, but she can’t see anything. Deputy located the complainant dog in the woods fighting with a possum. The dog killed the possum and returned home.
