Waterfowl hunters are invited to participate in special public drawings for hunting blind sites at LaDue Reservoir in Auburn Township, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Separate drawings will be held for the early statewide waterfowl season, the two-day youth-only season and the regular statewide waterfowl season. Hunters cannot apply for these hunting opportunities online or by mail.
For opportunities to hunt at LaDue Reservoir, registration will be at the Geauga County Fairgrounds Aug. 11 and will begin at 5 p.m. The drawing will follow promptly at 6 p.m.
There is no application fee for any of the drawings. Hunters will place registration cards in a drum, names will be drawn for available dates and blind sites, and first drawn will receive first choice. Successful applicants must be present when drawn to be eligible.
Each applicant must show a valid 2016-2017 hunting license and provide his/her Division of Wildlife customer identification number to register.
A maximum of three persons may hunt each day and while the hunting partners may differ each day, the permit holder must always be present.
The majority of permits issued will be for a period of one week and may only be used for the blind location chosen. Special note: No permit is required to hunt the last 30 days of the season.
It is unlawful for any person to use gasoline motors on LaDue and external fuel tanks are prohibited. Electric motors only are permitted for use on watercraft.
