The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 12-18. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 429 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Aug. 13
4:30 p.m., Music Street, Newbury. Caller states there is a stray cow in her yard and she doesn’t know where it came from. Deputy advised. Unable to locate cow.
Aug. 14
6:31 p.m., Music Street, Newbury. Loose cow is again in my back yard. Spoke with male on Munn Road and he will be en route to location to see if the cow is his. Spoke with Humane Society; they are unable to assist and have to trailer/place to keep the cow, even if it were located and corralled. Humane Society cited ORC and said it is the GCSO’s responsibility. UTL.
ASSAULT
Aug. 14
11:07 a.m., Ravenna Road, Claridon. Meet at ER security office. There is a female there advising she was assaulted. Bruises on her neck. Spoke with complainant at the hospital. She refused to tell deputy what happened, but did say she was sexually assaulted at her home in Dimond, Ohio, a couple days ago. Deputy tried to get her to tell who assaulted her, but she refused. She only would tell deputy it was a friend who was visiting a couple days ago with her child. Deputy advised female if she changed her mind and decided she wanted to report the assault to contact her local PD.
FOUND PROPERTY
Aug. 17
11:56 a.m., Merrit Road, Munson. Complainant on post found a phone in Euclid, they contacted Verizon and they advised that it is stolen. Complainant would like to turn the phone in. Deputy met with the complainant, who stated her husband while working in Euclid found a cell phone and brought it home. After the complainant took the phone to Verizon it was learned the call phone had been reported stolen. The complainant turned the cell phone over to the Deputy.
FRAUD
Aug. 12
10:26 a.m., Mitchells Mill Road, Chardon Township. In lobby to file fraud report on behalf of husband. Occurred between July 25 and July 29. Complainant said she received her monthly credit card billing statement and noticed charges from Chicago. Complainant contacted her credit card holder and they credited her money back. Complainant wanted incident documented.
HARASSMENT
Aug. 14
10:27 a.m., Lake Shore Drive, Newbury. Would like a report for sexual harassment by roommate. Report taken.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
Aug. 12
3 p.m., Beechnut Lane, Munson. Teenage son recently caught doing drugs. I was going to take him to hospital and he took off in my truck. I believe he is on LSD. I have a CCW but there are no weapons in car. Chardon advised of plate. Male is detained.
OVERDOSE
Aug. 14
6:23 p.m., Pinehurst Drive, Munson. Twenty-one-year-old male possible overdose on heroin. Male is outside in the driveway, unknown if breathing. Caller can hear him breathing. Second caller confirming male is breathing, but he is unconscious. Male is now conscious. Male does seem slightly upset. Male used; no drugs could be located. He signed off with squad. Male given advice about addiction and rehab. Male refused to provide details about his drug use and denied using heroin, claiming he only used cyboxin. Male displayed all signs associated with heroin use.
PARKING PROBLEM
Aug. 16
4:29 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Hambden Town Hall, multiple vehicles are parking in the fire lanes. Hambden Township Fire Department requesting assistance from a deputy in getting the vehicles removed. Deputy spoke with the HTFD. He advised the parking situation appears okay for now. Will call back if the problem persists.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Aug. 15
9:07 a.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. A nice wooden Western Reserve Conservation sign was hung on the mailbox and broke the red flag. Caller called the conservation and they seemed not interested in their sign. Caller does not know who did this. Caller was told this would be on file and to contact them back if the want to come get their sign.
SUSPICIOUS
Aug. 14
11:28 p.m., Lake Shore Drive, Newbury. Caller states female is being held against her will at this location. Her husband and another male are the people holding her against her will. Caller stated they also took her phone from her so she can’t call for help. Caller said female filed a sexual harassment report against male earlier today. When asked if there are weapons in house, she answered “probably.” Caller states they will not let female come to door to speak with her. Caller is at location. Caller states female also moved out of the house today; she went back to the home to speak with her husband. Deputy spoke with female. She advised she was OK and not being held against her will. She is staying at the residence for the night. Advice given.
THEFT
Aug. 12
9:57 a.m., Portlew Road, Newbury. Theft complaint in the lobby. Subject is not willing to wait. Will call from home later. Male at home now and would like to see a deputy. Complainant’s credit card was used in numerous states, not by him. He stated his bank will credit him the money back. He stated the bank told him someone accessed his account online somehow and doesn’t know who. Complainant stated his bank suggested he file a police report to have the incident documented.
