The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 19 through August 25. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 406 calls during this seven-day period.

CITIZEN’S ASSIST

Aug. 19

8:22 a.m., Auburn Road, Newbury. Caller is trying to deliver lumber for Carter Lumber to a house and there are cars flying down the roadway. Caller is parked in their driveway and needs to take the items down the roadway. Someone from Carter Lumber is responding from the Solon Office. Deputy advised. Employee arrived to assist with getting lumber in driveway.

CITIZEN’S DISPUTE

Aug. 21

12:08 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Scenic River Retreat by Alpine. Two parties are argueing about their rights. One party is fishing and the other states she rented the whole place for a funeral. Deputy spoke with both parties and per Fire Department you can rent the pavilion but the others are ok to be there and will check further. All parties at Scenic River are okay with this.

FRAUD

Aug. 20

6:36 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. The caller was hacked on her computer. Deputy met with the complainant who stated that someone through PayPal was trying to scam her out of $1,800 dollars. She then stated that she was not scammed out of any money nor did she send anyone any. Deputy provided her with steps to take to ensure that she is protected. A business card was furnished with the IR?number and advice was given.

PARKING PROBLEM

Aug. 25

4:44 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Someone has parked his truck and landscape trailer on our farm property blocking access to the customers of our farm stand. The caller believes he may be at the auction down the street. Deputy advised. Original vehicle was removed. Many vehicles were parked on 608 causing a hazard. They were removed.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Aug. 20

11:46 a.m., Goredon Drive, Aquilla. Someone knocked down our mailbox. We are elderly and can’t put it up. Would like an officer to come over and see if they can help out. Deputy arrived. The mailbox post was rotted out at the base and fell over. The homeowner did not have any material to fix it. I advised them to call the USPS and/or the Mayor for assistance as they wanted to move the mailbox closer to the house.

RV PROBLEM

Aug. 23

6:49 p.m., Fowlers Mill Road, Munson. Guy riding a mini bike around Nollwood Drive and Fowlers Mills. Looks like a circus bike with a grown man wearing a mechanics outfit on it. Do not believe it’s street legal and it’s about 400-500 decibels. I have asked him not to ride it on Nollwood but he still does. Deputy advised male he can not ride dirt bike on the road.

THEFT

Aug. 22

10:23 a.m., Chipmunk Lane, Burton. Sometime over night someone took $60 cash from a desk and also some checks that were made out to the business. Complainant did hear a car take off after being woken by a dog around 10:30 last night. A door may have been left unlocked.

TRAFFIC OFFENSE

Aug. 24

2:57 p.m., Wilson Mills Road, Munson. There is a kid from the school that is using the road as a speedway. He drives a white Honda. This is an ongoing situation. He has a modified exhaust. Deputy spoke with the above noted complainant. Deputy stopped by the owner’s address.
