Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office September 16 through September 22. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 378 calls during this seven-day period.
CITIZEN’S DISPUTE
Sept. 21
4:09 p.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. Caller states that for the past 17 years he has been having an issue with a neighbors chickens coming onto his property. Today he came home and there were several chickens that had defecated on his picnic table. He confronted his neighbor last week about the situation and he is still having problems. He would like to meet with a deputy.
INFO REPORT
Sept. 22
7:10 p.m., Messenger Road, Newbury. Received a call from Cleveland 19 News stating they received several calls from people asking what was going on in the area. Deputy advised. Resident recently acquired a decommissioned ambulance. Ran siren and PA system in the driveway for children. Was advised of complainant. He told deputies that the vehicle was going to be turned into a utility vehicle for construction business.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Sept. 16
11:00 p.m., Madison Road, Thompson. The caller said his landscaper smashed his grill. He wants to meet with a deputy to file a report. This occurred earlier today and the caller just arrived home. Deputy advised. Landscape trailer knocked over grill damaging it. Complainant will contact the landlord about the damage.
Sept. 18
8:13 a.m., North Blvd., Auburn. Caller reports someone turfed their property. Deputy advised. Unknown vehicle went off the roadway and drove through the lawn at the entrance to Taborville. This happened sometime during the overnight hours. Complainant is requesting extra patrol in the area during the overnight hours.
THEFT
Sept. 20
5:46 a.m., Auburn Road, Auburn. Caller states he just went to get into his vehicle to leave and noticed it was broken into and his laptop is missing. Caller does not notice anything else missing at this time. He states he did not have much in the truck, but he did notice the ashtray open and the arm rests moved as well. Deputy responded. Sometime with-in the evening someone entered the property and entered the complainants pickup, took his backpack containing a laptop, Ipad, and keys.
TRAFFIC CRASH
Sept. 17
8:08 p.m., Nash Road, Troy. Earlier today while at Troy Fire Departments clam bake, the caller’s minivan rolled into the SUV in front of them damaging their car. The vehicle they struck had a hitch on it and it did extensive damage to their car. The caller has since returned home and needs a report for insurance.
TRESPASSING
Sept. 18
10:42 a.m., Leggett Road, Montville. Male trespassing on property with ATV. Property owner asking for the police to come quickly. Dispatch could here the trespasser apologizing in the background. Second party called dispatch. Things are calmed down now. Both parties are awaiting deputies. Dispute over water association property. No crime occurred.
VANDALISM
Sept. 21
12:18 p.m., Eastwood Drive, Auburn. Just noticed that over the past couple of days that someone did some vandalism to the HVAC system on the side of our house. The mulch is also pushed down by the window. Deputy responded. Somebody scratched an “HI” and an unknown drawing on the complainants outside air conditioner sometime within the past week. Complainant does not know who would have done this. Complainant currently looking into security cameras and lighting for that side of the house. Extra patrol requested in the area.
