This week, the Partnership for a Healthy Geauga will begin its survey of Geauga County residents as part of a community health assessment process. The Partnership for a Healthy Geauga is working closely with the Hospital Council of NW Ohio and researchers at the University of Toledo to conduct the survey. Over the next two months, more than 2,000 Geauga County residents will be randomly selected to participate in surveys, including parents of children under 11 years old and adults 19 years and older. Residents of Geauga County who are randomly selected are urged to complete and return the survey in order to provide the best information possible.

The anonymous survey asks participants to answer questions about access to and use of health care, current physical and mental health conditions, personal behavior and risk factors, and social determinants of health. These answers will create a snapshot of the health of Geauga County residents. The results will guide many public and private agencies in their program planning over the next few years by identifying key health problems and strategies to address these problems. The final community health assessment report will be published in the spring of 2017 at which time the results will be used to prioritize needs and create a community health improvement plan.

The Partnership for a Healthy Geauga is composed of many public and private agencies that make up the public health system. The partners include: the Community for Health Affairs, University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center, Middlefield Care Center, DDC Clinic, Catholic Charities Community Services, United Way Services of Geauga County, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NE Ohio, Family Planning of NE Ohio, WomenSafe, Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services, Geauga Family First Council, Geauga County Board of Health, Health District Advisory Council, Geauga County Job and Family Services, and the Ohio Department of Health.
