Sheriff’s Report
December 8, 2016

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Nov. 25 through Dec. 1. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 427 calls during this seven-day period.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Nov. 28

8:40 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller is at the Marathon station and would like to speak with a deputy regarding a vehicle she sold and still has her plates on it. The male she sold it to was supposed to meet her today to transfer the title, but was not able to. He is now driving around using her plates. Deputy advised the caller of the delay due to high priority call.

CITIZEN’S DISPUTE

Nov. 26

4:11 p.m., Lake Shore Drive, Newbury. Caller says she and her husband returned home and found the pipes in their residence cut. The landlord cut the pipes and wants them evicted. Caller says she never got any notice he wanted her to leave and they were never formally evicted through the courts. Deputy advised. Parties spoke and worked out an agreement.

DISABLED VEHICLE

Nov. 25

9:39 a.m., White Oak Drive, Auburn. Caller was parked in the grass at a friend’s house and ended up in a ditch stuck in the mud. No injuries. Deputy responded. Driver was parked on side of road and slid into ditch. No damage to vehicle and small ruts in the grass. Had a friend pull him out. Property owner was on scene and the two parties stated they would work out how to fix the ruts.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Nov. 28

4:01 p.m., Turner Drive, Aquilla. Caller states someone, possibly the neighbor, ran over his mailbox. States there is tracks that lead from the neighbor’s driveway to the mailbox. Would like to make a report. Deputy responded. Neighbor accidentally backed into the mailbox that is also his along with complainant’s. Neighbor is repairing mailbox upon deputy arrival.

SUSPICIOUS

Nov. 26

2:54 a.m., Old State Road, Hambden. Male hit the 911 button outside the station. Claims he is waiting on a taxi because he is to drunk to drive. Fire department is out with the male now and he is cooperative. Per Hambden FD, male walked from the Hambden Inn to get a taxi. Male did not want to drive due to intoxication. Male will continue to wait at the FD until his taxi arrives.

Nov. 30

12:35 p.m., Spiceberry Circle, Auburn. Small white compact car at the end of the driveway. Black male approached the house soliciting dry cleaning services. Complainant told him no thank you and he continued to insist. He left going toward Taylor Wells. She advised it was suspicious because he never stopped at anyone else’s house. Complainant doesn’t need to see anyone unless there is info to pass along.

Dec. 1

6:46 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Silver SUV or Jeep. It has been there off and on for a few days. Someone in the lot asked what they were doing and they stated they needed a wifi signal. The owner is inside the store. He would like the deputy to tell them to leave and not come back onto the property, and he would also like to speak to the deputy. Subject was notified of management’s request and was very cooperative and polite.

VANDALISM

Nov. 30

4:55 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Someone shot the caller’s house with paintballs last night and she would like to make a report. She heard the noise last night and didn’t know what it was. She returned home from work to find the paint on her garage. Unknown who did this. Deputy advised. Just wanted to make us aware. Extra patrol of the area.
