Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 6-12. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 314 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Jan. 9
9:48 a.m., Wilson Mills Road, Munson. Complainant advised of a Husky tied up and is sitting in front of a garage. Appears no one is home and no food or water is set out for the dog and the temp is only 12 degrees, not counting the wind chill. Deputy responded. Dog in residence when deputy arrived.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Jan. 12
8:48 a.m., Oaktree Lane, Troy. Caller is 85 years old. He is concerned about all of the water around his trailer. He has been trying to get a hold of the office and nobody will answer. He would like a deputy to respond to speak to him about this. Complainant stated this flooding has been occurring since 1997 and he has made complaints since.
SUSPICIOUS
Jan. 8
11:20 p.m., Campton Ridge Drive, Chardon. Car sitting outside the house. Has been there for a while. Caller states the lights are on but it doesn’t appear to be running. Caller believes the same car may have been there last night also. Deputy responded. Watching Netflix on his phone. Admitted that he was the same car from yesterday. Sent on his way.
Jan. 11
10:54 p.m., Elm Drive, Newbury. The caller’s dogs are going crazy and he thinks someone may be outside the house. Unknown how many people, no description it was too dark. Last seen approximately 15 minutes ago walking back out to the road toward the lake. Caller wants deputies to park in the driveway and turn the lights on.
Jan. 12
8:19 a.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. The caller heard someone arguing about an hour ago. He just went outside and saw a woman sleeping in a tan Ford Taurus. It has Michigan plates. The caller is a neighbor. Dispatch responded to location. Male and female inside the vehicle half dressed. Couple stopped to have a romantic moment and catch some sleep before they returned to Michigan. Both parties checked ok and the yelling the complainant heard was from the romantic moment.
TRAFFIC HAZARD
Jan. 12
12:56 p.m., Woodin road, Chardon. Large dam on the west side of the road, 2 miles north of the city. The water is going over the dam and it’s about to give out. Deputy advised. Just south of 9618 Ravenna on the west side of the roadway. Dam is damaged. Water is flowing down the hill and not as risk of crossing the road. EMA is on scene and handling risk assessment.
