Sheriff’s Report
January 26, 2017

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 13-19. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 464 calls during this seven-day period.

AGENCY ASSIST

Jan. 16

9:22 p.m., Grand Valley Avenue, Orwell. ASCO requested bomb dog for Orwell Police. They received a bomb threat at Kraftmaid. Deputy assisted Orwell PD with a bomb threat at Kraftmaid. A note was found by an employee in the bathroom, which read “Find it in time or boom!” Management cleared all employees out of the building and contacted Orwell PD who then requested a K-9. Deputy and the K-9 searched all the areas where employees could be and did not locate any explosive odors. Once the search was complete, management was advised the area was clear and the employees could resume work.

SUSPICIOUS

Jan. 14

12:20 a.m., Newcomb Road, Middlefield. Silver minivan in the driveway, interior lights on with two occupants. Moved into the roadway and turned the lights off. Two male occupants. Caller heard a car door slam about 15 minutes ago and then looked out and saw them. Deputy advised. Vehicle had a bad battery, they got it running and will be on their way.

Jan. 16

3:19 p.m., Fairgate Boulevard, Newbury. White pickup truck with a cooler in the bed driving door to door claiming to be selling steaks. The male driver asked the caller to come outside. She refused; the male left the house and did not stop anywhere else. Deputy stopped the male who checked ok and has permits.

Jan. 19

6:02 p.m., Leggett Road, Montville. Caller found vehicle tracks to his barn and would like to speak with a deputy. He did not notice anything missing but knows that a neighbor had bricks stolen from her property earlier this week. Complainant stated he did not know who may have drove down to his barn. Complainant advised nothing has been touched inside the barn. Advised complainant to lock all doors to the barn, block entryways with large machines inside the barn and to place deer cams at entry points of the property. Extra patrol will be requested.
