Orchestra Seeks New Members

The Lakeland Civic Orchestra is holding auditions for new members for its 2023-24 concert season. It is specifically seeking musicians who play orchestral string instruments, including violin, viola, cello and bass, as well as trumpet, trombone and percussion. Other woodwind and brass instrument players are welcome to audition but may not be offered a regular position at this time.

Interested musicians should contact Dr. Matthew Saunders at msaunders4@lakelandcc.edu or 440-525-7105. Auditions will be held by appointment only on Aug. 21 in the Dr. Wayne L. Rodehorst Performing Arts Center in the D-Building of Lakeland’s campus. Musicians must be prepared to sight-read and play a prepared selection that best demonstrates their skills.

All college students and community adults are eligible to join, but at least two years’ performing experience at the high school level is recommended. All members should commit to Monday evening rehearsals and two to three performances during each semester. Most performers must provide their own instruments, and percussionists must provide their own mallets.
