Holiday Youth Performances at Geauga Theater In December
While the classic Miracle on 34th Street is gracing the Geauga Theater stage in December, the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild will also be featuring class performances to celebrate the holiday season and spotlight the talented youth in the community.
A Charlie Brown Christmas, directed by Angela Miloro-Hansen, will be presented on Dec. 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. This has become a holiday tradition at the GLTG and audiences will enjoy the warm-hearted celebration of the Peanuts gang.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, also directed by Angela Miloro-Hansen, will be performed on Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Its a hilarious classic Christmas story about the destructive and inappropriate Herdmans and how they come to save the annual Christmas pageant. Songs, angels, crazy kids and a lady stuck in traction are all a part of this wonderful story.
Humbug! is directed by Julie Douglass and will be presented on Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. This modern version of A Christmas Carol, finds the grumpy Ms. Ebenezer rediscovering her love of teaching with the help of kindly Bobby Cratchit and three special visitors. The musical reminds us that our actions touch the lives of others.
All performances will take place at the historic Geauga Theater located at 101 Water St. in Chardon. Admission is free. Donations will be accepted and are appreciated.

Geauga Hunger Task Force Benefit Planned Dec. 7-8
The Good Tidings Benefit Choir, 85 voices strong, is once again going to perform their musical magic for the community Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Notre Dame Cathedral Educational Center Chapel, 13000 Auburn Road in Munson.
Celebrating its 24th year, the popular program raises money through goodwill offerings for the Geauga Hunger Task Force, which consists of seven emergency food pantries throughout the county.
The Good Tidings choir will be performing many Christmas selections including a portion of GF Handels Messiah. Also performing will be Pilgrim Brass, the bell choir from Chardon Methodist on Saturday and the hammered dulcimer group If I had a Hammer on Sunday.
All attending will be invited to sing the Hallelujah chorus at the closing of the program.
Admission is free, but a goodwill offering will be collected. Reservations are not necessary.
Fairmount Family Holiday Fun
Fairmount Center for the Arts presents A Prelude to the Season: A Retelling of the Nutcracker and Student Dance Performance at 7 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Chagrin Falls Performing Arts Center, 400 E. Washington St. in Chagrin Falls.
The show will feature some of Fairmount’s youngest ballet and tap dancers, the Fairmount Spanish Dancers, adult tappers and a contemporary piece choreographed by Verb Ballets’ Or Sagi. After intermission, the Fairmount Dance Theatre will perform a Retelling of The Nutcracker, a shorter version of the full-length ballet.
Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors and $5 for children ages of 3-12. Children under 3 are free.

Fairmount Youth Theatre Presents Babes In Toyland
Fairmount Center for the Arts Youth Theatre Lab will present a musical version of Babes in Toyland at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 22 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 23 and 24 at Mayfield Village Civic Center in Mayfield Village.
The production is about Contrary Mary, played by Sarah Hill of Chagrin Falls, who is forced to marry the evil Barnaby, played by Sarah Malarney of Russell Township, in order to save the home of her mother, played by Sara Currier of Chagrin Falls, and her many brothers and sisters. Mary runs away to Toyland to find her friends Alan, Jane and Tom, played by Mike Kenny of Bainbridge, Julia Tripodo and Nate Snyder, respectively, for help. There she encounters the Toymaster, played by Lyric Williamson of Shaker Heights, and his assistants, Luke Tomsick of Bainbridge and Andra Usis of Chesterland, who help to solve her problems.
Also in the cast of 20 are Kaylee Tomsick of Bainbridge as servant girl Hilda, and Olivia McDowell of Shaker Heights and Kaitlyn Magalski of Chesterland as comical criminals Roderigo and Gonzorgo.
The production is directed by Patti Susman, with musical direction by Joan Bendix and choreography by Merlynne Hancock.

Words And Wine poetry readings are held the first Tuesday each month at Your Vine or Mine?, 154 Main St. in Painesville. Open MIC starts at 6:30 P.M.
Grace Butcher, 1992 Ohio Poet of the Year, will be reading on Dec. 3. Tobin Terry will host the evening.

Art From The Heart
Rescue Village will hold its fourth annual Art from the Heart holiday art show featuring nationally recognized local artists in a pop-up shop located at 4925 Pointe Parkway in Warrensville Heights.
Art From the Heart and Carnival Couture will kick off from 5-10 p.m. Dec. 13 with a holiday party featuring an art sale, artists raffle, adoptable animals, hors doeuvres, wine tasting and more.
The art sale and adoptable animals continues on Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Dec. 15 from 12-5 p.m. Enjoy live music from local band Texas Plant from 5-7 p.m. Saturday.
Purchase an official Rescue Village wine glass for $20 for unlimited wine tasting Friday evening and Saturday from 4-7 p.m.
Admission is $2. A portion of all art sales benefits the homeless animals at Rescue Village.
