The elementary school division of Middlefield Historical Society’s 34th annual Invitational Student Art Show will be on display for public viewing on Saturdays and Sundays at 14979 South State Ave. Participants include Berkshire, Cardinal, Chardon and Newbury schools. All work is professionally judged.

Fairmount Colors of Dance
May 5, 2:30 p.m.
Fairmount Center for the Arts presents the “Colors of Dance” performance at Chagrin Falls Performing Arts Center, 400 East Washington St., Chagrin Falls.
This performance features over 60 dancers, ranging from age 2 years through adults, showcasing choreography in tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop and Spanish dance.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for senior citizens 62 and older, and $8 for children ages 3-12 years. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 440-338-3171 or will be available 60 minutes prior to the performance.
Two dollars from each adult ticket sold will support the newly established Nancy Furst Figgie Scholarship for Visual Arts. Application information for the scholarship will be available in June.
Words and Wine
May 8, 6:30 p.m.
Words and Wine, a poetry reading series, meets at Rider’s Inn in Painesville. Featured will be Susan Grimm from Shaker Heights, 1999’s Ohio Poet of the Year. For open mic, bring a favorite poem to read.

Call For Entries At Art Show

Fairmount Center for the Arts announces the 42nd annual Fairmount Art Exhibition to be held May 29 through June 7 at 8400 Fairmount Road in Russell Township. Artists of Northeast Ohio are invited to submit artwork on May 22 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Judging will be held on May 23.
Entry fee is $15 per piece, with a three piece maximum. Entry forms are available on site, by visiting www.fairmountcenter.org or by calling 440-338-3171.

An opening reception will be held May 26, from 6:30-9 p.m., with an awards ceremony at 7:30 p.m.
Following the opening reception, the exhibition will be open for viewing the weeks of May 29 and June 4. All events related to this exhibition are free and open to the public.
