Conservative Forum Meets

The Geauga Conservative Forum will meet at Orchard Hills Event Center on Caves Road in Chester Township.

Guest speaker Clare Lopez, vice president for research and analysis at the Center for Security Policy and an expert on the Middle East, will be updating the current events pertaining to Iran, the Middle East, the migration of the Arabs into Europe and its effect on the United States and the world.

Shop Bargain Box

Sept. 25, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Women’s Guild at St. Christopher’s by-the-River Church is holding its semi-annual Bargain Box Sale with many rooms of gently used or new goods at the church located at 7601 Old Mill Road, Gates Mills. The sale features fine jewelry, designer clothing, accessories, shoes, antiques and art, and vintage items.

Steeple Fund Craft Fair

Sept. 25, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pilgrim Christian Church will hold its second annual Steeple Fund Craft Fair at the church located at 202 S. Hambden St. in Chardon. All proceeds will benefit the restoration of the church steeple and bell tower.

Ledgewood CC Rummage Sale

Sept. 26, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The youth group of Ledgewood Christian Church is hosting a rummage and bake sale at the church located at 8261 Kinsman Road in Russell Township. Event includes a bake sale, Equal Exchange Fair Trade coffee sale and Boy Scout popcorn sale.

All proceeds will benefit Ledgewood Christian Church and The Cleveland Christian Home.

Pig Roast Dinner

Sept. 26, 4-7 p.m.

Newbury American Legion Post 663 and Auxiliary Unit 663 are hosting their sixth annual pig roast dinner in the Hunter pavilion behind the post located at 11008 Kinsman Road in Newbury.

Tickets are $15 at the door or $12 advance sale.

Newbury Kiwanis Clam Bake

Sept. 26, 6 p.m.

The Kiwanis Club of Newbury is hosting its annual clam bake at the Rookery in Newbury. Tickets are available at Middlefield Bank, Newbury branch or by calling 440-829-7171. Steak is also available.

Proceeds benefit children in the community.

Square Dance

Sept. 26, 7-9:30 p.m.

The North Bloomfield Historical Society will host a square dance at the town hall located at the corner of routes 45 and 87. Admission is $5 per person. No dancing experience is necessary. Light refreshments will be served.

Crop Walk for Hunger

Sept. 27

The Greg Weemhoff Crop Walk for Hunger will take place at the Geauga County Fairgrounds in Burton.

Registration is 1:30 p.m., with the walkers setting out at 1:45 p.m. on a four-mile route through Burton Village.

Twenty-five percent of the funds raised will stay in Geauga County to support the Geauga Hunger Task Force. The remaining funds are administered by Church World Service to provide people around the globe with food and clean water.

Gardening in Fall, Clean Up and Spring Preparation

Oct. 3, 9 a.m. to noon

Geauga County Master Gardeners are hosting a class to help gardeners prepare their gardens for the long winter and have them ready for spring planting. Class will be held at OSU Extension Office, 14269 Claridon Troy Road, Burton.

Fall into Country Craft Show

Get holiday shopping started with a wide variety of vendors and handmade crafters at Mayfield Church, 7747 Mayfield Road, Chester Township.

Admission is $1 and proceeds from the event will benefit the WomenSafe Greenhouse of Geauga County.

Cystic Fibrosis Auction

Oct. 3

Brandi’s Rainbow is hosting the 12th annual Cystic Fibrosis Auction at Cardinal Middle School, 16175 Almeda Drive in Middlefield

Doors open at 3 p.m. with the auction starting at 5 p.m.

Auction features more than 300 items, gift certificates, quilts, gift baskets, toys and more.

Admission is $10; additional tickets are $5 for 25. Refreshments and 50/50 raffle.

Turkey Dinner

Huntsburg Congregational Church will hold its annual turkey dinner at the church located at 12435 Madison Road in Huntsburg.

St. Mary’s Church will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at the parish located at 401 North St. in Chardon.

DTJ Chicken and Duck Dinner

Oct. 4, 12-2 p.m.

DTJ Taborville is hosting a chicken and duck dinner at 9850 North Blvd. in Chagrin Falls. Cost is $12.50 for an adult dinner and $6.50 for a children’s chicken dinner. A half duck dinner is $17.50.

GCRTA Luncheon

Oct. 6, 11:15 a.m.

The Geauga County Retired Teachers Association will hold its luncheon meeting at Huntsburg Community Center, 12406 Madison Road. Gathering time will be followed by the business meeting at 11:30 a.m. and lunch at noon. The menu will consist of beef medallions and ham with sauces.

Following lunch, Marlene Bolea will present “Out of My Gourd Roadtrip,” which will explore the various types of gourds and their uses throughout history.

Benefit Auction for DDC Clinic

A benefit auction for DDC Clinic ~ Center for Children with Special Needs will be held at 17719 Newcomb Road in Middlefield.

Event features live auction, including a two-car 24?24-foot garage built to one’s specifications on site, horses, quilts, furniture, crafts, flowers and vegetables. Homemade soft pretzels, barbecue sandwiches and fries, pie and ice cream will be for sale.

Flying Club Hosts Swap Meet

Oct. 10, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Geauga Radio Controlaires is hosting the fourth annual Jim Gardner Memorial RC Model Swap Meet at Mentor Beach Park Pavilion, 7779 Lakeshore Blvd. in Mentor-on-the-Lake.

There will be an auction and raffle of new radio controlled planes and equipment at noon. Eighty exhibitor tables of radio controlled planes, helicopters, cars, boats, radios, tools and accessories will be displayed for sale, barter and trade by individuals and by the event co-sponsors.

Admission of $4 includes one raffle ticket. Youth 11 and under are free. Parking is free. Hot food will be available.
