Newbury Township will hold its Cleanup Day at the Newbury Garage, 11012 Kinsman Road. For senior pickup, 60 years and over, one must fill out forms at the senior center.

American Legion Golf Outing

June 4, 11 a.m.

Atwood-Mauck American Legion Post 459 in Burton is hosting its seventh annual golf outing at Pleasant Hills Golf Course in Chardon. Sign in at 10:30 a.m. Call Bruce at 440-548-5155 for information.

KOC Flea Market

June 4, 8 a.m.

Knights of Columbus St. Mary Parish Council 15942 of Chardon is hosting a pre-Chardon Trash Day flea market at St. Mary gymnasium and parking lot. Setup is at 6:30 a.m. and the market opens at 8 a.m.

Cost is $10 for a 8×8-foot square in the gym, or two spaces for $15, and $15 for a parking lot parking space, or two spaces for $25. A limited number of tables will be for rent at $10 each. A concession stand will be open.

DTJ Gymnastics Exhibition

June 5, 2 p.m.

DTJ Taborville’s 90th annual gymnastic exhibition will take place with performances by Sokol Ceska Sin at 9850 North Blvd., Chagrin Falls. Performers will range in age from 3 to 76. Czech food will be served beginning at noon. There is a $5 donation at the gate for those over 12. Bring a lawn chair or blankets. No coolers, please.

Wool Hollow Art & Quilt Fest

Wool Hollow Art and Quilt Fest takes place at the Chesterland Historical Village featuring artisans on the greens, music, food, quilt display, demonstrations by the Western Reserve Spinners and Weavers Guild and so much more. The event is free and open to the public.

Chesterland Historical Village is located on the corner of Caves and Mayfield roads.

Corvette Cruise In

SNJP Hosts Farm Picnics

SNPJ Farm is hosting picnics every Friday in June, rain or shine, featuring polka bands: Frank Moravcik on June 5; Bob Kravos on June 12; Wayne Tomsic on June 19 and Joe Novak & Friends on June 26. Gates open at noon. Dinner is served at 2 p.m. with music and dancing from 3-7 p.m.

Picnic admission is $8. No outside food or beverages permitted.

Words and Wine

June 7, 6:30 p.m.

Mark Hersman will be the featured poet at Words and Wine, a monthly poetry reading series held at Your Vine or Mine, 154 Main St., Painesville. A poet and archaeologist who participates in Ohio digs, he has a chapbook of poems titled “Unearthed.” He is also a longtime member and past president of the Ohio Poetry Association. Open mic for poetry will precede his reading.

Chardon City Dems Meet

The Chardon City Democrats invites Chardon residents to attend its inaugural meeting at the Heritage House on Chardon Square. Agenda includes planning and organization for the fall election and beyond.

A rummage sale will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 12686 Bass Lake Road, Munson. Shop early bird sale on Thursday, June 9 from 9-10 a.m. with a $2 admission. Saturday is $2 bag day or half off price.

Chardon Chamber Golf Outing

June 9

Chardon Chamber of Commerce’s 41st annual golf outing takes place at Wicked Woods Golf Club, 14085 Ravenna Road, Newbury. Registration begins at 8 a.m. followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start and dinner and awards at 3 p.m.

Cost is $100 per golfer and $370 per foursome. Dinner only cost is $35.

Each golfer receives 18 holes with cart, two drink tickets, breakfast, lunch, barbecue chicken and ribs dinner and sundae bar.

There will be a cash prize for the winning team along with golf contests, giveaways and a 50-50 raffle to benefit the Chamber scholarship fund and more.

Financial Education Workshops

June 9 and 23, 5:30-8 p.m.

OSU Extension and Geauga County Job and Family Services will offer a personal finance class at the OSU office in Chardon, 470 Center St., Bldg. 5-A. Sara Shininger, from Job and Family Services, and Terri Worthington, from OSU Extension, will co-present on the topics of credit scores and repair, basic budgeting and plugging spending holes. Strategies for working with one’s co-spender and easy steps to building an emergency fund will be covered.

Daylily Plant Sale & Raffle

Bingo Game Night

June 11

The Geauga County Board of Develop-mental Disabilities, also known as the Metz-enbaum Center, is going to begin a monthly bingo game night open to the community. Bingo will be held on the second Saturday of every month, beginning on June 11.

The event is open to all ages. Game is limited to 50 players. Preregistration is encouraged, although walk-ins welcome. There is no cost to register. Winners receive prizes, not cash.

Scimitars Big Band Concert

The Scmitars Big Band of Cleveland, under the leadership of conductor Paul Lawrence, will perform at Hamlet Atrium, 200 Hamlet Hills Drive, Chagrin Falls.

The Scimitars specialize in the music of the ’40s, ’50s and ’60s and also perform music of an earlier vintage, as well as some current popular tunes.

The Geauga County Genealogical Society’s June program is a field trip to the Chesterland Historical Village for a tour of the buildings and a discussion of the bicentennial quilt presented by Sylvis Wiggins. Sue Ingrassia will discuss how Chesterland was a wool producing area and the uses of wool.

136th Reunion

June 24, 5 p.m.

All graduates and former teachers of Chester, Russell and West Geauga schools are invited to attend the 135th annual alumni reunion at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.

Social time will start at 5 p.m. followed by a family-style dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person. There will be a cash bar and “split-the-pot” raffle.

The West Geauga class of 1966 will be honored for its 50th anniversary. Classmates celebrating 55, 60, 65 and 70 years will be honored as well. Glimmer Quartet will provide entertainment after dinner.

The Geauga County Republican Party will hold its annual golf outing at Wicked Woods Golf Club, 14085 Ravenna Road in Newbury. Golf is $75 per person and includes 18 hole scramble, cart, lunch and dinner. Lunch is at noon with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. There will be a million dollar hole in one, cash prizes for top winning teams, games and challenges, and auction/raffle items.

Tails at Twilight

June 25, 6:30 p.m.

The 2016 Tails at Twilight annual event to benefit the animals of Rescue Village will be held at the shelter located at 15463 Chillicothe Road, Russell Township. Presented by Burton Carol Management and Hardy Animal Nutrition, it is the shelter’s largest fundraiser of the year.
