Geauga Bee Keepers Meet

The Geauga County Bee Keepers will meet at 7 p.m. March 26 at the Kent State Geauga Campus, 11141 Claridon Troy Road, Burton, main lobby, for a discussion of the ABCs of Honey 2: Advanced Bee Keeping. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.

Parkman Fish Fry

The community is invited to attend fish fry dinner March 27 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Parkman Community House, 16295 Main Market.

Adult dinners are $9, dine in or take out. Alternate kid-friendly dinners will be available for $5 each. Desserts will be available for an additional donation.

Burton Easter Egg Hunt

Burton Village’s annual Easter egg hunt will take place April 4 at 11 a.m., rain or shine, in the village park on the south end of the square. Children will be divided into three age groups: 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6.

The event takes place every year due to the donations and support of local businesses, community organizations and private individuals. To make a donation, send a check to P.O. Box 318, Burton, OH 44021, or place in a donation can the morning of the egg hunt.

Oink & Squeal Party

The Burton American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 459 is holding its annual Oink and Squeal Party March 28 at the Burton American Legion Hall, 14052 Goodwin St. The event features a Chinese auction and turkey raffle. Doors open at 5 p.m. Raffle begins at 7 p.m.

Raffle tickets are $2 each for cash prizes and hams. Chinese auction tickets are eight for $1 and will be sold at the event. Food will be available through the Legion kitchen. No outside food for consumption. For admission, bring a nonperishable food item, bath or personal hygiene item or cash donation for the local food bank. All proceeds fund the auxiliary’s scholarship program and Girls State sponsorships.

St. Mary’s Fish Fry

St. Mary’s Church will be hosting its annual all-you-can-eat Lenten fish fry buffet March 27 from 4:30-7 p.m. Pricing for dine-in guests is $12 for adults, $6 for children 6-12 and free for children 5 and under. Carryout pricing is $10 for adults and $5 for children 6-12.The church is at 401 North St. in Chardon. Call 440-286-8879 for more information.

Chardon Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Chardon Easter egg hunt will take place April 4 on Chardon Square. The free hunt begins at 10 a.m. for children 8 and under. Children are asked to provide their own baskets.

The event kicks off with a pancake breakfast at Pilgrim Christian Church from 8-11 a.m. The price, which includes a picture with the Easter Bunny, is $8 for adults and $6 for children.

Sponsored by Lucas Pest Management, the hunt is a joint project of Chardon Tomorrow, the Chardon Square Association and Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce. For more information, contact Chardon Tomorrow at 440-273-3077.

Food Pantry Open

The food pantry at Chester Christian Center A/G Church, 11815 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township, will be open March 27 from 10 a.m. to noon. One does not need to be a member of the church to come to the food pantry. Call 440-729-6203 for more information.

Munson Easter Egg Hunt

Munson Township will hold its Easter egg hunt at 10:30 a.m. April 4, rain or shine, at the township park, 12641 Bass Lake Road. The Easter Bunny will arrive at 10 a.m. to greet the children.

Bring a basket or bag to collect the eggs, which will be turned in for a bag of goodies. Children will be divided into two age groups: 2 to 5 years and 6 to 9 years.

Happy Tails & Cocktails

The Happy Tails & Cocktails benefit being held March 29 from 4-7 p.m. will help the Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary in Chester Township pay for additional winter expenses. The fund-raiser will take place at The Cabin Restaurant, 28810 Lake Shore Blvd., Willowick.

Cost is $30 per person for reservations made by March 28; and $35 at the door.

Enjoy appetizers, dessert, a cash bar, silent auction items, reverse raffle, sideboards, a liquor table raffle, door prizes and entertainment by singer Bobby Leach. Coffee, tea and dessert of chocolate and white cakes be provided.

Church Rummage Sale

Christ Covenant Church is holding a rummage sale, Chinese auction and bake sale April 30 and May 1 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and May 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church located on State Route 87 in Middlefield. Sale includes clothing, games, toys, glassware, household and miscellaneous items.

Pork Dinner Fundraiser

Claridon Community Helps, a 501(c)(3) organization, will be hosting a pork dinner fundraiser April 11 at VFW Post 6519 on Water Street in Chardon. Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner being served at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $12 per person. There will also be a Chinese auction featuring cakes, pies, cookies and other sweets.

Spring Gardening

Jeff Griff, of Lowe’s Greenhouse, will speak to Bainbridge Civic Club members and the public April 1 at 8 p.m. at Bain-bridge Town Hall. He will provide guidance and a PowerPoint lecture on how best to plan for spring cleanup and prepare planting areas for colorful flowers.

The meeting is free and open to all. Refreshments will be served.

GOP Lincoln Day Dinner

Sharon Day, co-chairman of the Republican National Committee, will speak at Geauga County Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner April 11 at Fowlers Mill Golf Course, 13095 Rockhaven Road, Chester Township.

A VIP reception with Ms. Day begins at 5 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m. VIP tickets are $90; dinner tickets only are $60. Sponsorships are also available.

Genealogy Society Meets

Sarah Prueter will present “Using Shutterfly for Short Family Stories” at the Geauga County Genealogical Society meeting April 14. She will demonstrate how to use Shutterfly to prepare a photo book. Garrettsville Idol Auditions

Open-call auditions for Garrettsville Idol, the grand finale event that closes out SummerFest Festival, are set for 1 p.m. April 12 at James A. Garfield School. Use the event entrance.

Adults will compete for a $1,000 cash prize; youth and teens will compete for $500. Prizes will be awarded to the winner at the finals held during SummerFest.

Contestants are asked to come prepared to sing an entire song without musical accompaniment. Closed auditions will be held in three age categories: youth ages 8-12 at 1 p.m., followed by teens ages 13-17 at 2 p.m. and adults 18 and older at 3 p.m. Arrive 15 minutes early.

One must be available April 12, May 17 and June 28 to be eligible to audition.
