Pancake Breakfast Benefit
The American Legion, Geauga County Council is holding a last chance all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast benefit for Geauga County veterans in need on April 19, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Atwood-Mauck Post 459, 14052 Goodwin St. in Burton.
Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 6-12 and free for youth under 6.

Civil War Encampment
The Geauga County Historical Society will host a Civil War Encampment May 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of Century Village Museum in Burton. Re-enactors will recreate military and civilian scenes from period and respond to questions from visitors concerning the great internal strife. It is the 150th anniversary of the last year of the Civil War.
Cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 12 and free for children 5 and under. Food and drink will be available on the grounds. Period merchandise will be offered for sale. Select historical buildings at the museum will be open to the public. No pets permitted.

OPERS Retirees Meeting
The next meeting of the Geauga County PERI 86, an organization that supports the retirement system and benefits, is at 11 a.m. April 22 at St. Mary’s Church in Chardon. Geauga Bee Keepers Meet
The Geauga County Bee Keepers will meet at 7 p.m. April 23 in the commons room at the Kent State Geauga Campus, 11141 Claridon Troy Road, Burton, for a discussion of the ABCs of Honey Bees: Spring Management. There will be door prizes and refreshments.

Pancakes at The Grange
Hambden Grange 2482 is serving an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast with maple syrup, corn fritters, fruit, sausage, juice, cocoa and coffee on April 19 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. The Grange is at 9778 Old State Road, Chardon.
WomenSafe Spring Luncheon
The 16th annual Friends of WomenSafe spring luncheon, “Splash,” will be held May 13 in the banquet room at St. Mary’s, 401 North St. in Chardon. Guest speaker Tami Brown, executive director of the Cleveland Aquarium, will talk about the interesting things happening at the aquarium.
Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. for guests to buy tickets for the Chinese auction items. Enjoy lunch by Reserve House Catering and music by harpist Virginia Dickson.
Cost is $30 per person, with a vegan, vegetarian or gluten free meal for $35.

Boy Scout Spaghetti Dinner
Boy Scout Troop 195’s 18th annual all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner and bake sale is April 18 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Chesterland Baptist Church, 12670 Chillicothe Road.

Geauga Dems Hot Topic Dinner
The Geauga County Democratic Party will hold its monthly spaghetti dinner served with hot topic April 23 at the Geauga County Democratic Headquarters and Social Hall, 12420 Kinsman Road in Newbury. The after dinner topic of discussion will be challenges facing the labor movement and today’s workers with guest speaker Jim Ciocia. A retired attorney, Ciocia chairs the Fair Employment Committee for Patriots of Change.

Grange Open House
Huntsburg Grange 2541 will be holding its annual open house and rummage sale on April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Huntsburg Town Hall at the intersection of routes 528 and 322. Come learn about the Grange and find some bargains. Food will be available.
Church Rummage Sale
Christ Covenant Church is holding a rummage sale, Chinese auction and bake sale April 30 and May 1 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and May 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church located on State Route 87 in Middlefield. Sale includes clothing, games, toys, glassware, household and miscellaneous items.

Cornhole Tournament
Relay for Life of Chardon is sponsoring a cornhole tournament April 18 at the Chardon VFW 6519, 752 Water St. Practice starts at 5 p.m. with games starting at 6 p.m. Entry fee is $20 per team, double elimination. There is a limit of 24 teams. Finger food will be provided.

Kiwanis Maple Sales
The Chardon Area Kiwanis is still selling maple syrup and maple products at the Log Cabin on Chardon Square April 18 and 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and during the Maple Festival from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. All funds raised through the sale support the scholarships that it awards to Chardon High School seniors and various other community projects that it sponsors each year.
