Vendor Spaces Available
Booth spaces are still available at a popular flea market taking place July 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at The West Woods picnic area, 9465 Kinsman Road, Russell Township.
Dozens of vendors will sell treasures such as antiques, collectibles, birdhouses, jewelry (new and old), tools, toys, furniture, rugs, plants, handmade materials, soaps, general household items and other bargains galore.
Outdoor spaces, the size of two parking spaces, can be reserved for $25, or an 8-foot picnic table under the shelter can be reserved for $15.
Geauga County Ohio Horseman’s Council is hosting the event, so all application fees for vendor spaces will be payable to Geauga County OHC, but all proceeds from the event will benefit Geauga Park District’s Bridle Trail Fund.

Golden Anniversary Sale

The American Cancer Society’s Discovery Shop in Chardon is hosting a golden anniversary celebration. All merchandise will be 50 percent off for the three-day event.
Discovery Shops help support the fight against cancer through the sale of high quality, gently used, donated merchandise.

Clairdon Congregational Church will hold a rummage and bake sale at Claridon Town Hall on the corner of Mayfield and Claridon-Troy roads. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, bag day.
Strawberry Shortcake Festival
June 13, 10-11:30 a.m.
The Geauga Fresh Farmers’ Market will hold its fourth strawberry shortcake festival in the South Russell Village Hall parking lot at Chillicothe and Bell roads.
Free strawberry shortcake to all customers while supplies last. Local, fresh-picked strawberries will be available for purchase at several market booths.
The market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to noon through early October.

Rev. Rafael Cruz to Speak

Rev. Rafael Cruz, father of Texas senator and presidential candidate Ted Cruz, will be speaking at Tanglewood Country Club. He will present his compelling story of faith, flight from Cuban tyranny and discovering the American dream.

Garden Club Hosts Garden Walk
June 26-27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Gates Mill Garden Club is hosting “Through The Garden Gate? garden walk, a self-guided tour of private gardens of Gates Mills, plus unique vendor shopping opportunities in the club’s cottage and barn.
Tickets may be purchased in advance for $25 per person, or $30 day of event. All proceeds benefit the club’s scholarship fund and civic projects. Advanced ticket purchases will receive a complimentary raffle ticket.
On Friday only, an optional poolside lunch at Chagrin Valley Hunt Club is available for an additional $30 with advanced reservation purchase only and received by June 15.
Also available on Friday only is the Grand Tour with mini-motor coach transportation to all the gardens with a private tour guide plus a visit to a bonus garden, poolside lnch and raffle ticket. Cost is $100 per person, advance purchase only by June 15.

135th Reunion

All graduates of Chester, Russell and West Geauga schools are invited to attend the 135th annual alumni reunion at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.
A buffet-style dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. There is a cash bar and “split-the-pot” raffle. Tickets are $20 per person.
The West Geauga Class of 1965 will be honored for its 50th anniversary. Classmates celebrating 55, 60, 65 and 70 years will be honored as well.
Guest speaker, former graduate and West Geauga teacher Gary Lyman will bring back fond memories of his experiences with fellow students and teachers.

BMR Motorcycle Run
June 28, 10 a.m. to noon
Burton-Middlefield Rotary is sponsoring its 10th annual escorted motorcycle run, departing the Geauga County Fairgrounds and ending approx-imately two hours later with a picnic lunch. Sheriff Dan McClelland and his dog Midge will lead participants on a 55-mile ride through scenic Geauga County.

WomenSafe Summer Dance

The annual Friends of WomenSafe Summer Dance is being held at the Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Rd. Start the evening with a one-hour beginners swing dance lesson taught by Will Craig and Lindsey Leonard. Then, Blue Lunch will take the stage playing a variety of music. The dance is presented in cooperation with Kenston Community Education and Bainbridge Swing Dance.
The evening also offers reasonably priced refreshments, 50/50 raffle and a Chinese auction. Tickets for the dance are $15 per person in advance, or $30 per person walk-in at the door.
