The University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center Auxiliary has awarded four scholarship grants to graduating Geauga County high school seniors who are pursuing careers in health care.
The 2016 recipients are Natalie Bukovec, Carmaletta Hinson, Samantha Adams and Rachel Pidala. They each received a one-year grant of $1,000.
Bukovec is from Chardon High School and will attend Miami University this fall to study pharmaceutical research and development.
Hinson is from Kenston High School and will attend Case Western Reserve University, with plans study biology and cognitive science.
Adams, from Kenston High School, will attend the University of Findlay to pursue a degree in pharmacy.
Pidala is also from Kenston High School and will attend The Ohio State University to become a physician.
The auxiliary received 18 applicants for this year’s grants. A five-member scholarship committee considered the students’ academic records; commitments and achievements at school and in the community; and financial needs.
