Government

Trustees meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. at the town hall.

All township meetings are open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.

Call 440-636-5486 for more information. The next meeting is April 18

Cemetery

Maintenance will be cleaning the cemetery and preparing it for Memorial Day services. If there are any items one wishes to keep, please remove them. All old wreaths and items left at the graveside will be discarded.

No plantings are permitted. Artificial flowers or ornaments are permitted on the graves until they become weather beaten. The township is not responsible for damage or theft of such items and may remove them if they become unsightly.

Zoning

Zoning Inspector Frank S Corrao wishes to remind all residents to obtain a zoning permit prior to making any construction changes of any kind. He may be reached by at 440-636-5486 ext. 3. Leave a message and he will return the call.

The zoning office receives many complaints this time of year about debris blowing off properties onto neighboring properties. Now is the time to clean up unwanted items on one’s property.

Spring Cleanup

The Huntsburg Spring Cleanup (for residents only) will be held June 3 from 8:30-11 a.m. or when full. Bring items to the township recreational park 17085 Mayfield Road. Fees will apply. No items are to be left after that time.

The following items will not be accepted: lawn waste, propane tanks, and appliances with Freon. All appliances must have Freon removal tags. No exceptions.

Tire Recycling Drop Off

Tire recycling will be held for Huntsburg Township residents only. The Passenger Car Tire Drop-Off will be held June 3 from 8:30-11 a.m. at the Huntsburg Recreation Park 17085 Mayfield Road.

Tires may be on or off the rims, but must be dirt and mud free. No exceptions. Grant Funding provided by Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste District.

Rentals

Huntsburg offers several rental opportunities for family get-togethers. There are three outdoor pavilions suitable for family reunions, birthday parties and barbecues. Two are located at the recreational park at 17085 Mayfield and the other in the Memorial Park located at the town center. The pavilions rent for $20 for the day.

The town hall and community center are also available. The community center can accommodate 160 plus and is air-conditioned. While there is no kitchen available, it does have sinks and a refrigerator. Rental fees vary with the use and number of guests; rentals are $100 to $200 for residents.

The town hall is for a smaller group of 80 or less and has a full commercial kitchen. The rental fee is $50 for summer months.

The Huntsburg gym has undergone a renovation and can be rented for basketball or volleyball use. The cost for a two-hour rental is $40.

All buildings are now handicap accessible.

Pumpkins Festival

The 44th annual Pumpkin Festival will be held on Oct. 4 and 5. For seeds and instructions on how to grow a giant pumpkin, call Jerry at 440-636-5145.

Huntsburg maple syrup producers who would like to donate syrup for the pumpkin festival may call Nancy at 440-636-5197. We would love to show off all the fine syrup produced right here in Huntsburg.

Want to join the festival committee? Call 440-636-5197 for information on how to join.

Recycle

Bring all unwanted catalogs, phone books, newspapers, school and office papers, magazines, paperback books and junk mail to the recycle bin at Huntsburg Recreation Park.

Cardboard is accepted. Shredded paper is accepted in clear plastic bags. Please put a small hole in the bag to allow air to escape, but not the paper.

The township earns money for the paper it collects, so recycling is a way residents can support the community without having to reach into their pockets.

Help keep the recycling center clean.
