Government
Trustees meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. at the town hall.
All township meetings are opened to the public and residents are encouraged to attend.
Call 440-636-5486 for more information. The next meeting is Nov. 1.
Trick Or Treat
Trick or treat night for Huntsburg Township is Oct. 31 from 5-7 p.m.
Residents wishing to have their homes visited are asked to leave a porch or outside light on. Children are asked to stop only at homes with lights on. Have a safe Halloween.
Middlefield Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual cider, donuts and costume contest just after 7 p.m. at the Middlefield Fire Station.
Township Hunting Regulations
Hunting is strictly forbidden on Huntsburg Township properties. There have been hunters shooting at wildlife in the recreational park during hours the park is being enjoyed by others and maintained by township employees. Hunting violations will be referred to the game warden and prosecution may be involved.
During deer season, please drive carefully and watch for deer crossings on all highways and township roads.
Mailboxes
The township policy on replacing mailboxes is only to replace boxes that have been struck by the plow or truck. Mailboxes that go down due to heavy snow will not be replaced.
Boxes are replaced with an inexpensive, simple type box only. Please consult one’s postmaster for regulation regarding the installation of a mailbox.
Driveway Culverts
Landowners have the responsibility to keep their driveway culvert clean and free of debris. The biggest assistance a resident can be to the township is to make sure one’s driveway culvert is clean. Cleaning out the culvert will allow for the continuous flow of water through the ditches and will aid to control flooding and road erosion.
Road Improvements
The township has a very limited budget to maintain township roads. It will always strive to do its best to maintain the roads.
If funding permits, dust control in the form of MC70 will be applied to roads that will benefit from the application. Some roads will not hold up even after several applications and will not receive MC70; an alternate product may be used to control the dust if available.
Crack sealing, ditching, grading and applying gravel are ongoing maintenance services. Please bear with road crews in the spring, as roads tend to deteriorate at that time. Be aware Huntsburg Township will not pay for car repairs or blown tires due to road conditions. Drivers must drive according to road conditions, which means drive a little slower to avoid road hazards. Speed limits are posted on all roads.
Historical Society Hours
The Huntsburg Museum will have open hours in the community center the third Saturday every month from 12-4 p.m.
Zoning
Zoning Inspector Frank Corrao III wishes to remind all residents to obtain a zoning permit prior to making any construction changes of any kind. To reach the zoning office, call 440-636-5486 ext. 3 and leave a message.
Recycle
Bring all unwanted catalogs, phone books, newspapers, school and office papers, magazines, paperback books and junk mail to the recycle bin at Huntsburg Recreation Park. Cardboard is now accepted.
Shredded paper is accepted in clear plastic bags. Please put a small hole in the bag to allow air to escape, but not the paper.
The township earns money for the paper it collects, so recycling is a way residents can support the community without having to reach into their pockets.
Do not leave unwanted items that are not recyclable at the park recycling site. Lately, unacceptable items have been found. Help keep the recycling area and the park clean.
