FGP Explorers Series

July 11, 10:30 a.m.

The Foundation for Geauga Parks is hosting its monthly Explorers Series at Blue Heron Preserve, 14747 Ravenna Road in Burton. Join for a one-hour walk at a new preserve in Burton Township, just opened by the Western Reserve Land Conservancy. Land Conservancy staff will join the group to share about history, habitats and plans for the property.

Hikers should wear weather appropriate clothing they do not mind getting dirty or wet. The group will practice social distancing guidelines and split into teams of 10 or fewer to walk. Bring a water bottle and binoculars.

Free Meal Kits

July 11 and 25, 11 a.m. to noon

Free meal kits will be available at the Community Church of Chesterland, 11984 Caves Road.

Each kit includes an entree for two that includes a protein, fruit, vegetables and a breakfast item. A recipe accompanies each kit, which is packaged in a bag that can be given contact free to individuals and families.

The church plans to continue providing kits every other Saturday until people are able to again gather in person. The distribution in August will continue based on an evaluation of the situation and need.

Cesky Den

July 12, 12-5 p.m.

The 97th annual Cesky Den will be held in a different format to protect family and friends at DTJ Taborville in Auburn Township.

Czech foods will be ready to eat or takeout. Music for listening only will be provided by Anthony Culkar. Czech beer will be available at the bar. T-shirts and other Czech items will also be for sale. No coolers or pets permitted.

Chamber Open House

July 14, noon

Middlefield Chamber of Commerce will host its annual open house at Olde Towne Grille. A light lunch will be served. Stop in to meet the members, learn about upcoming events, sign up for the annual golf outing in Aug. 28 and find out about becoming a member of the Chamber. Kiwanis Summer Concert Series

July 15 and 22, 7 p.m.

The 37th annual West Geauga Kiwanis Club Bandstand Summer Concert Series kicks off with Blu Monsoon, one of the most sought after jazz groups in Northeastern Ohio, performing at the at the gazebo in Chester Township Park.

The July 22 concert features the Chardon Polka Band performing everything from polka music to Queen and comedy with audience participation.

In the event of rain, concerts will be canceled. Kiwanis encourages the standard Covid-19 precautions with social distancing and masks are recommended.

HomeGrown Geauga 2020

Aug. 7, 6:30-10 p.m.

Tickets are now on sale for Geauga Growth Partnership’s annual HomeGrown Geauga fundraising event at Sapphire Creek Winery & Gardens, 16965 Park Circle Drive, Bainbridge Township.

Join for an evening of homegrown food, spirits and entertainment provided by musical and other artistic talent.
