It was a beautiful day on May 19. Laundry was on the lines and looked like it would dry without getting wet. I worked in my flowerbed in the afternoon. The weeds wanted to take over.
Niece Ellen Hershberger and more visited with Mel and Fannie Yoder on Agler Road on May 18. Fannie had a fall, landing on her face and breaking most of the bones in her cheeks plus her jaw. She may not eat solids for six weeks.
Daughter Betty and Melvin Byler of Mio, Mich., planned to come down May 21-22 for the wedding at Melvin’s brother Uria and Martha’s. If plans held out, sisters Liz Yoder, Clara Kauffman and Sylvia Miler came along to visit their sister, Fannie and Melvin Yoder.
Visitors at Dan and Sylvia Miller’s the evening of May 18 were Dan and Leona Gingerich, Bob and Mary Lou Miller and children, Joe and Saloma Miller and girls and Ray and Judy Miller and children. It was good night to sit around the campfire.
With all the rain, farmers and produce growers are having a hard time getting things planted. Hopefully, they can plant this week.
Our blood drive on May 10 brought in 99 donors. A big thank you goes out to all.

A young man asked his minister if there was something he could do for his church. The minister suggested he contact the members who had failed to send in the money they had pledged.
The next Sunday, the minister announced he had received quite a lot of money and some letters. One letter read, “Here’s the money we failed to send, and you should tell your secretary there’s only one ‘r’ in ‘dirty’ and no ‘c’ in skunk.”
You all have a good week. Enjoy the sunshine.
