It was a beautiful day on Oct. 12. We came home from church and I had a little nap. Afterwards, I got my letter done and did some reading. I also wrote some letters.
Joe went down to the viewing of brother-in-law Bill Detweiler, who died early the morning of Oct. 10. I went down on Oct. 11 with my sisters, Fannie Yoder and Edna and Bill Byler. His funeral was Oct. 13.
The funeral of Mrs. Joe Sara Miller, of Frams Cornor, was on Oct. 12. She was a widow for almost 41 years.
We are sorry to hear Robert Nora Miller and Lester Mary Mast are both not feeling well. They both have cancer. Mary spent the week in the hospital.
Mrs. Simon Yoder is doing better. She also had cancer surgery. She is staying at her daughter Mary and Abner Miller’s on Mumford Road.
Spending two days here on Oct. 1 and 2 were our daughter Betty and Melvin Byler and sisters Clara Kauffman and Mrs. Albert Sylvia Miller. Melvins came to help celebrate his sister Elizabeth’s 60th birthday. They came from Mio, Mich. On Oct. 2, my sisters Fannie, Clara, Sylvia and I then had lunch at sister Edna’s on Nauvoo Road. After lunch, we visited Albert and Mary Miller on Madison Road, shopped at Hershberger Housewares, and then made a call at Manas and Irene Kuhn’s. They recently moved on Mumford Road to their daughter Irene and Roman Schmucker’s. They built a new cute little house for them. Miss Sarah Kuhns also has her home at Roman’s.
On Oct. 11, son Richard had a frolic for his brothers, in-laws and nephews to build a buggy shed. Many hands make light work. The women helped bring in lunch and break.
We were expecting granddaughter Lorena and Loren Miller here for the night on Oct. 12. They came for the funeral of Bill Detweiler, Loren’s grandfather.
There was a big crowd at the benefit auction at Buster Miller’s the night of Oct. 10 for the D.D.C. Clinic. I haven’t heard of a figure, but the food was super, along with soft pretzels, burgers, fries, sausage sandwiches, fruit, salad bar, ice cream, chicken sandwiches and more. There was something to suit everybody.
Bill Stutzman Tours planned to leave for the week to the New England states the morning of Oct. 13. We would have loved to go, too, but it’s good we didn’t plan to go now that brother-in-law Bill’s funeral was on Monday.
Time to get the flowerbeds cleaned out now that Jack Frost stopped by. Flowers were kind of hanging their heads this morning.
Well, it’s time to make some popcorn for our snack. That always tastes good on a Sunday afternoon, along with some iced tea or grape juice.

The Sunday school teacher was teaching her class the difference between right and wrong.
“All right, children, if I were to reach into a man’s pocket and take his wallet with all his money, what would I be?”
Johnny raised his hand and with a smile said, “You’d be his wife.”
You all have a good week.
