Sunday was a warm day for the last day of November. How fast the month went!
Our family had our Thanksgiving dinner Sunday at son Richard and Sue’s house. We waited to eat until son Marks and Philips got there after church services.
On Nov. 29, our family had our annual pig cutup day. With 16 pigs cut and wrapped. They were all dressed out by Mahans except for two that were raised by grandson Matt. Those two were dressed at Matt’s place the evening of Nov. 28 with the help of Matt’s dad and cousin Danny Miller.
The grand opening for the Geauga Amish Historical Library was on Nov. 29. The board did a great job setting things up. There was much family history books plus much more. Doughnuts and coffee were served. I was over for several hours and found it well worth my time. It will be open on Saturdays for the time being and maybe more days later on.
On the sick list is brother-in-law Bill R. Byler, of Nauvoo Road. He is in University Hospitals in Cleveland. They were planning to do heart surgery on Dec. 1. Also, Reuben Yoder had surgery and was a very sick man. We hope both will feel better soon.
Mrs. John Mat Miller, of Shedd Road, fell on Nov. 29 and broke her right arm. She goes back to the doctor tomorrow to see if she needs surgery or just a cast. Her address is 15060 Shedd Road, Burton, OH 44021. I am sure mail would be welcome.
Mrs. Perry Katie Ann Miller also fell last week, broke her left leg and had to have surgery. Her address is 15250 Shedd Road, Middlefield, OH 44062. They have four boys at home and no girls, so the nieces are helping out. Also, meals are being brought in several times a week, which is greatly appreciated.
Deer hunters are getting geared up to go hunting. Many are leaving early in the morning and going further south. Hopefully, all will come back safe.
Our dinner for the A.F.S. Exchange students was very enjoyable. We had students here from 15 different countries. They were from Belgium, Argentina, Canada, France, Germany, Finland, Italy, Japan, Spain, Norway, Suriname, Thailand, Switzerland and Indonesia. Before we had dinner, our neighbor boy Lester Slabaugh gave the students a buggy ride. It was a very interesting evening.
It was a rather dreary morning and day on Dec. 1, but a good day to do book work and get letters and cards ready to mail. It’s time to get Christmas cards done.
Chuckles
Two elderly ladies were discussing the upcoming dance at the country club.
“We’re supposed to wear something that matches our husband’s hair, so I’m wearing black,” said Mrs. Smith.
“Oh my,” said Mrs. Jones, “then I better not go.”
You all have a good week.
