Hello from the Amish Crossing Corner...

Hello from the Amish Crossing Corner.

Winter is here. The first snow always looks so pretty, but spring always looks better.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the David D. Miller Jr. family in the passing of their 7-month-old baby, Leanna, who died Nov. 18. The funeral was Nov. 21. Grandparents are David and Amanda Miller and Robert and Barbara Yoder. She had one sister, Marcia.

On Nov. 19, we hosted the AFS exchange student dinner. We had 60 people with the host parents and children. A chicken dinner was served.

On Nov. 19, we held a blood drive at Joe’s Window Shop, with 65 donors signing in. We collected 60 units of blood.

Our family got together at son Ray and Judy’s on Thanksgiving Day. I brought dressing.

Several vans went to Mio, Mich., the week before Thanksgiving for the viewing and funeral of Mrs. Milo Kathryn Miller. The funeral was on Nov. 19. She was a daughter of the late Eli and Maudie Yoder. Elis worked on the Gamble farm on Taylor-Wells Road before moving to Mio. Milo is the son of Eli J. Miller who lives on Nash Road close to Troy. Eli had been up to visit Milo’s family the week before the funeral and wasn’t able to go to the funeral. He is 89 years old.

My visitors the evening of Nov. 20 were Roman and Ada Schlabach, son Jacob and Ellen and children, sons Perry, Katie Ann and son, David, Mark, Fan and children and daughter Sylvia and Cindy and Timmy. Timmy is sporting a cast on his right foot due to a broken ankle. His brother Andrew sprained his ankle also playing basketball. And, grandson Steven also sprained his arm playing football. Slow down, guys.

On Nov. 15, several vanloads of relatives went to Troutville, Pa., to the funeral of nephew Monroe Miller who died of cancer. His sister, Mrs. Jonas Edna Mae Miller, wasn’t able to be at the funeral as she is also very sick with cancer.

The neighbor ladies recently visited Mrs. Andrew Susan for coffee break. They recently moved about a half mile down the road from here on what was the former Clark farm.

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving.
