Hello from Geauga County Amish Country,
Finally the ground is frozen a little. After all our rain, it has been very wet.
Our sympathy goes to the Enos Byler family in the passing of their father and grandfather who passed away on Feb. 7. The funeral was Feb. 10. Also, our sympathy goes to the family of Marvin and Arlene Miller in the passing of their 3-month-old baby Amanda whose funeral was on Feb. 13.
There are still lots of children sick. Some are in the hospital with respiratory syncytial virus and pneumonia.
The big news is the upcoming wedding of Miss Lucy R. Schmucker, of Patch Road, to widower William J.L. Miller, of Princeton Road. A Feb. 21 wedding is planned if my news source is correct.
Sunday evening guests at Ray and Judy Miller’s on Shedd Road were Dan and Leona Gingerich, Bob and Mary Lou Troyer, Dan and Sylvia Miller and Joe and Saloma Miller and families.
Having supper at son Mark’s also on Sunday evening were Perry and Katie Ann and son David and I. We had barbecued ribs, vegetables, salad, homemade ice cream, strawberries and cake in honor of Mark’s birthday. Neighbors Joe and Sara Bricker took supper out to Leah and her sister Mattie on Parkman-Mespo Road and then also visited Robert and Rosanna and family across the street. Rosanna recently fell on the ice and broke her ankle.
Son Wayne is working here in the window shop, sorting through lots of stuff. He will be taking over the window business as of now for which we are all glad for. I will continue to live here for the time being.
My sister Sylvia Miller, of Mio, Mich., spent Feb. 2 through Feb. 4 here at my place. On Thursday evening, Ellen Hershberger, Barbara Yutzy, sisters Elmina, Sylvia and I went out for dinner. On Friday, we gathered at sister Fannie and Mel’s. Sister Edna Byler also joined us. It was a very enjoyable time together.
On March 4, 11, 18 and 25, we will be having a pancake breakfast at Joe’s Window Shop for the Maple Madness Tour. Hours will be from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The next blood drive at Joe’s Window Shop will be on March 11. Anyone is welcome to come and donate.
Chuckles
“Say, what’s the idea? Why’d you give that girl such a big tip when she gave you your coat?”
“Well, just take a look at the coat she gave me.”
Mrs. Hen: “I wonder what makes Mr. Gander look so seedy this morning?”
Mr. Rooster: “He was out on a wild goose chase last night.”
You all have a good week.
