Brrr … winter came early. Now, it’s time to carry out ashes, carry in wood and coal and sweep up the mess. And so winter begins.
We are spending a quiet, restful day at home on Nov. 17. Grandson Andrew was over awhile in the afternoon for a visit. He was telling us that they had their tree stand stolen for the third time. I wonder what a person gets out of stealing from others.
Sometime during the night on Nov. 14, someone “plowed” off three mailboxes at the end of our drive. I would think that must have put a pretty good dent in the vehicle.
The blood drive here on Nov. 15 brought in around 70 donors, which is down compared to the last drive. I suppose it is due to the guys’ deer hunting. There have been quite a few deer bagged in our family. Even son Wayne went bow hunting for the first time. He went with sons Stephan and Kenny.
The annual craft show here on Nov. 8 was well attended. Lots of doughnuts and soft pretzels were sold, along with more than 30 vendors selling many different things. It was a very interesting day and much Christmas shopping was done.
On Nov. 22 we plan to host the annual dinner for the A.F.S. Exchange students. There are usually around 75-90 students and their host parents. We serve a chicken dinner.
Joseph W. Byler, of Parks West Road, spent almost a week in the hospital. As of now, they still haven’t found out what his illness is. He is scheduled for more tests. We wish him better days ahead. Being such an active man, it is quite hard for him not to be able to do hardly anything.
Our daughter Betty and Melvin Byler and daughter Jaunita, sons Norman Ray, wife Mary Ann and baby Kari Beth, Nathan and Ruth and baby Julieanna, Matthew and Marcus visited us Nov. 11 and 12. They live in Mio, Mich.
Mrs. Eli Katie Yoder and Mrs. Andy Sara Miller both had knee replacements recently. Hopefully, this will take away their pain.
Husband Joe is coming along pretty well from his six-day hospital stay where they found only 20 percent of his heart working. He also has congestive heart failure and had lots of fluids.
Henry Fisher is very sick with cancer. We would like to go and visit them sometime soon.
Dinner guests at Dan and Sylvia Miller’s the night of Nov. 16 were Perry and Katie Ann Miller and sons, Bob and Sylvia Hershberger and children and Danny and Karen Miller and two daughters.
Notice: There will be a benefit spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction at Joe’s Window Shop on Dec. 13 for cancer patient Lisa (Buck) Krumpe. Dinner will be served from 4-7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

A lady goes in for a checkup.
The doctor says, “You’re overweight.”
The lady replies, “I think I want a second opinion.”
The doctor says, “OK, You’re also ugly.”
Have a good week.
