Merrily We Sing Along

On Dec. 16 from 6:30-8 p.m., musician Nicky Bucur will lead the Geauga Arts Network Group (GANG) in songs of the season at Heinen’s Cafe, 402 Center St. in Chardon. Host for the evening will be Chesterland-based playwright Joanne Durante. The entertaining program is free and open to the general public; no reservations are necessary.

Bucur is a Geauga County resident who, as a freelance musician and hospice volunteer, has been bringing joyful music to area families and organizations for more than two decades. Other local musicians, singers, artists and writers are invited to share their own songs, paintings and stories in celebration of the holiday season, which will be interspersed with popular holiday sing-along tunes led by Bucur.

The Geauga Arts Network Group is an ad hoc group whose mission is to promote communication, collaboration and cooperation across artistic disciplines for artists living and/or working in Geauga County. For more information, call Joanne Durante at 440-729-6481.

Spend the Holidays with Annie

Daddy Warbucks may be able to offer to buy Annie everything she wants in Geauga Lyric Theater’s production of “Annie Warbucks,” but the most important things can’t be bought. In this family holiday show, Annie learns the true meaning of family.

The cast, composed of seasoned veterans, brand new actors and those returning to an interest they held in high school, tell the story in song and dance with great enthusiasm.

Running through Dec. 21, Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and Sunday performances are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for children, $13 for students and seniors, and $18 for adults.

For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.geaugatheater.org or call the box office at 440-286-2255.

The historic Geauga Theater is located at 101 Water St. in Chardon. Special thanks go to marquee sponsor Chardon Smile Center.
