‘Diary of Anne Frank’ at GLTG
It is hard to find a person who isn’t familiar with the story of Anne Frank. Escaping from the Nazis in a small attic apartment with her family and neighbors and forced to rely on outside help for food, Anne kept her story in a diary that was recovered by her father after the war.
It may come as a surprise to people that her diary isn’t a bleak account of terror, but of day-to-day life of growing up, with all the trials and humor that entails
Janna Klein, 15, who plays Anne, says,” My favorite part of being in this show has been learning so much about Anne Frank and the others in hiding with her. She was an incredible person and very talented writer. She went into hiding as a talkative and silly girl, but came out as a strong and introspective young woman.”
The Diary of Anne Frank runs weekends March 6-22, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. at Geauga Theater, located at 101 Water St. on Chardon Square.
Tickets are $8 for children 12 and under, $13 for students and seniors, and $15 for adults.
A special performance at a reduced price for students will be held on March 12 at 7:30 p.m. For more information on how to participate, contact educationoutreach@geaugatheater.org.
