CREAM CHEESE SPRITZ
Ingredients:
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
For garnish:
Sliced unblanched almonds
Sliced red or green candied cherries
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl or food processor, beat or process cream cheese, butter, sugar and vanilla until fluffy.
- Add flour gradually, beating or processing until thoroughly blended.
- Working with one cup at a time, press through cookie press or pastry bag fitted with large star tip. Press onto ungreased cookie sheet to form 1 1/2-inch cookies.
- Garnish with almonds and cherries by placing candied cherries in center. It then resembles a wreath.
- In preheated oven, bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned on edges. Cool on wire racks.
Yield: Approximately 54 cookies.
Variation: Instead of cherries or almonds, gently imprint thumb into dough and place a small amount of seedless raspberry jam on cookie.
