Bullies Anonymous at GLTG

Visitors to the annual Maple Festival in Chardon are invited to enjoy a complimentary performance of Bullies Anonymous, a mini musical with a mighty message, at the Geauga Theater located at 101 Water St. in Chardon.

The cast of 23 youth, ages 11 to 16, will be spreading the important message about this pressing social issue through uplifting songs and humorous dialogue. Performances are April 26 at 7 p.m. and April 28 at 1 p.m.

Sponsored by the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild’s educational division with support from the Chardon Community Action Team (CCTA), the group will hand out special door prizes to the first 50 youth each day. Lobby displays and information for parents will be available as well.

There is no admission or reservations needed; however, donations are accepted and appreciated.

CATS Opens Friday at GLTG

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical CATS first opened in London’s West End in 1981 and was the second longest running musical on Broadway. The show, known for its innovative make-up, costumes, music and dance, opens April 19 at the Geauga Theater in Chardon.

Children can attend a “CATS” themed event on April 27 at 11 a.m. They will have their hair done in the style of a cat at Marci’s Hair on the Square, get cat make-up, sip milk, eat cookies, learn to dance like a cat, plus meet the cast of CATS on stage. There is also a chance to walk in the Maple Festival parade.

Cost is $12 per child and reservations are required. Call 440-285-7701 for more information, or to learn about how you can adopt a CATS character, get a plush cat and adoption certificate, and visit your adopted “cat” on stage, all while providing support for the Geauga Lyric Theater Guild.

CATS, sponsored by Gem Electric, directed and choreographed by Lisa-Marie French, by special arrangement with Rodgers & Hammerstein, will run April 19-21 and May 3-12. Friday and Saturday evening performances are at 8 p.m.; with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, $10 for 12 and under.

Geauga Theater is at 101 Water St. in Chardon. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.geaugatheater.org or call the box office at 440-286-2255.
