Lego Tournament

Youth can put their building skills to the test in the monthly Lego tournaments. All materials will be provided. Show up by 11 a.m. to be entered.
Read and Relax with Therapy Dogs
Aug. 17, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Drop in at any point to read and relax with therapy dogs. Books will be available.
DnD Fall Campaign
Sept. 3 and 17, 3:15-5 p.m.
Fans of Dungeons and Dragons in grades five and above may join in a DMed campaign every other Tuesday through Nov. 26. All materials will be provided. Register if interested in attending any or all sessions.
Iron Chef
Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Elementary school-age children will compete in weekly food-themed challenges, with only one winner each week.
Teen Advisory Board
Sept. 10, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Youth in grades five and older will meet their peers in the introductory meeting and learn about an ongoing project to improve the library. Teens can get volunteer hours by participating. Pizza will be served. Registration is required.
Burton Book Buddies
Sept. 11, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Teens ages 12-18 may join a monthly book club the second Wednesday of each month through Dec. 11. The group will be reading an award-winning book from each decade, 1960 through 1990. Teens will discuss the book and participate in an activity based on the story.
Composting 101
Sept. 12, 6-7 p.m.
Learn composting techniques from the Master Gardeners. Registration is required.
Filmmaking 101
Sept. 18, 3:30-5 p.m.
Teens ages 12-18 will learn basic filmmaking while creating their own 3 to 5-minute movies. Class meets the first and third Wednesday of each month through Nov. 20. Patron must commit to all classes. Registration is required by Oct. 2. Notify the library if the participant has their own device such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop.
3D Printing with Tinkercad
Sept. 23, 6-7 p.m.
Adults will learn about the basics of Tinkercad and create a 3D print design on the library’s 3D printer that can be picked up from the library within a week. Registration is required.
Homeschool Circle
Sept. 25, 2:30-3 p.m.
The lightly facilitated social circle for parents and students ages 0-18 of the homeschooling community meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Parents and students will have their own circles to talk, share, play and support each other.
Geek Game Night
Oct. 7, 5-7 p.m.
Join other fans of Pokemon and Magic the Gathering. New to advanced players of all ages are welcome to play the table games.
