The Geauga County Housing Coalition held its fourth annual chili cook off fundraiser at Metzenbaum Center on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. More than 150 people attended the event to support local veterans. There were 13 Geauga agencies that participated in the cook off. The first place trophy was awarded to the Geauga County Department on Aging.
As a result of those attending the event and everyone who made donations, $4,003 was raised. A check for $1,750 was given to Family & Community Services for their Supportive Services for Veteran Families program.
The Mission of the Housing Coalition is to promote affordable, safe and decent housing opportunities in Geauga County through networking, advocacy and education. The Coalition is currently accepting grant requests from Geauga County nonprofit organizations who serve individuals who are homeless or are at imminent risk of homelessness. Funding requests must be submitted in writing and should include the organization’s name and contact information, purpose or mission, who is served, how much is being requested and how the grant will be used to promote the Mission of the Geauga County Housing Coalition. All funding requests must be submitted no later than Jan. 31, 2017.
