Pet Wash Fundraiser

April 14, 12-6 p.m.

Join for a pet wash fundraiser to benefit Kathy Deptola Animal Rescue at Pet Supplies Plus, 425 Water St., Chardon, 440-286-5442.

All supplies needed to wash and dry everything to wash and dry dogs will be provided. Fifty percent of all proceeds will go to benefit the animal rescue. There will also be raffle tickets sold to win a gift basket.

Chinese Auction and Dinner

April 14, 5-9:30 p.m.

The St. Helen Unicycle Drill Team will be hosting a spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction fundraiser at St. Helen, 12060 Kinsman Road, Newbury.

The unicyclists will also perform during the event, showcasing their skills and talents. Event includes a Chinese auction, 50/50 cash raffle and a $1,500 first place cash raffle.

Discounted presale tickets will be available at Geauga Feed, SK Industries and St. Helen Parish offices, 440-564-5805; regular priced tickets will be at the door.

Free Community Dinner

April 17, 5-6:30 p.m.

Claridon Community Helps will host a rigatoni dinner at the Claridon Congregational Church on the corner of Mayfield and Claridon Troy roads. Donations will be accepted, but are not necessary.

Audubon Highlights Alaska

April 17, 7 p.m.

Blackbrook Audubon Society presents a photographic visit to “Majestic Alaska” at Penitentiary Glen, 8668 Kirtland-Chardon Road in Kirtland. Photographer and graphic designer Alan Studt will take attendees on a tour of Alaska along with Gail Franko, co-host of WKYC Channel 3’s “In the Sky.”

Birders are also welcome to accompany Blackbrook on the annual Spring Bird Walk series at Headlands Beach State Park beginning April 15. Each walk in the six-week series begins at 7:30 a.m. Sundays at the Zimmerman Trailhead parking lot on Headlands Road west of the state park entrance. Yoga at Chardon UMC

Wednesdays, 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Join for a gentle, progressive style of yoga suitable for all ages and body types at the Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St. No experience is needed.

Conducted by master teacher and instructor Susan Gundersen, a suggested donation of $10 is requested, with proceeds going towards the church’s Guatemala mission. Bring a yoga mat, light blanket and wear comfortable clothing.

Good Samaritan Dinner

April 18, 5-6:30 p.m.

The Burton Congregational Church, UCC, Good Samaritan Dinner will be at the church in Burton. Cost is $8 for adults, $3 for children 4-11 and free for children 3 and under.

Homemade meal consists of chicken, two sides, bread, dessert and beverage. Takeouts is available; call 440-834-4495 the day of the dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds go to meet emergency needs of local families.

Birthright Painting Party

April 18, 6:30 p.m.

Birthright will be having a painting party in St. Mary’s cafeteria, 401 North St., Chardon.Cost is $35 per person and includes the instructor, all supplies, snacks and drinks.

Geauga Dems Address Fiscal Innovation

April 19

The Geauga County Democratic Party will host its monthly spaghetti dinner served with a hot topic at the Geauga County Democratic Headquarters and Social Hall located at 12420 Kinsman Road, Newbury. The after dinner topic of discussion will be “Working for the Future of Ohio: Accountability, Innovation, and Opportunity.”

Join in a conversation with Rob Richardson, candidate for Ohio Treasurer, who will discuss his plan for fiscal innovation through the lens of his work as a community activist and what he can bring to this office as a leader not a politician.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m. for networking, followed by dinner served at 6:15 p.m. and the hot topic at 7 p.m. Suggested donation is $10.

Red Wagon Spring Luncheon

The Christ Child Society of Geauga County is holding its 28th annual Red Wagon Spring Luncheon at St. Noel Party Center in Willoughby Hills. Guest emcee is Jenn Harcher, Channel 8 meteorologist.

The Chinese auction and luncheon raffles support the many programs and activities of the Society in its mission to help and serve children at risk in Geauga County for over 30 years.

The luncheon will feature signature gift baskets, along with spring plants and flowers.

Bingo, Raffle for Scholarships

American Legion Post 459 Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a bingo and raffle for scholarships at the post located at 14052 Goodwin St. in Burton.

Raffle starts at 7 p.m. Raffle tickets are $2 each.

Admission is a non-perishable food item, personal hygiene item or cash donation to a local food bank.

Refreshments will be available. No food for consumption may be brought in.

All proceeds will fund the scholarship program and Buckeye Girls State.

VFW Breakfast and Raffle

Chardon VFW 6519 Auxiliary is hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet and raffle at the post located at 752 Water St.

Drawing is at 10:15 a.m. Giveaway is $300. Donation is $15.

Happy Tails Benefit

Celebrate “Springtime For Senior and Special-Needs Cats”at American-Croatian Lodge, 34900 Lakeshore Blvd., Eastlake. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m.

Tickets are $40 per person, which covers dinner and access to a silent auction and raffles.

Several senior and special-need cats will be in the lobby available for adoption.
