Fall Rummage Sale

Christ Covenant Church, 16406 Kinsman Road in Middlefield, is holding a fall rummage sale to benefit Charity Children’s Ministry. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

There will be a bake sale and a chance to win Thanksgiving gift basket and turkey.

Turkey Dinner

Nov. 4, 4-6:30 p.m.

Auburn Community Church, 11076 E. Washington St. in Auburn Township, will host a community turkey dinner. Tickets are $11. Children 5 and under can eat free.

Holiday Boutique

Nov. 4, 4-8 p.m.

Nov. 5, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bainbridge Women’s Clubs’ 39th annual holiday boutique will be held at Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road. Enjoy crafts, baked goods, light lunch and raffle. Admission is free.

Christmas Extravaganza

Nov. 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

St Lucy’s Church, 16280 East High St. in Middlefield is holding a Christmas Extravaganza featuring a variety of vendors, bake sale, Chinese auction and pictures with Santa. Bring a camera.

Metzenbaum Quilt & Craft Auction

Nov. 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Metzenbaum Center will host its annual Amish quilt and craft auction at the center located at 8200 Cedar Road in Chester Township. Event features more than 25 handmade quilts, wreaths, Amish furniture, toys and more. A silent auction, Amish bakery, and cash and carry holiday shop will round out the day’s activities.

West Geauga Kiwanis will serve an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 7-10 a.m.

Sponsored by Families and Friends of the Metzenbaum Center, proceeds benefit the clients of Metzenbaum Center, the Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

DTJ Chicken and Duck Dinner

Nov. 6, 12-2 p.m.

DTJ Taborville is hosting its final chicken and duck dinner of the year at 9850 North Blvd. in Chagrin Falls. Cost is $12.50 for an adult dinner and $6.50 for a children’s chicken dinner. A half duck dinner is $17.50.

Annual Turkey Dinner

Nov. 8, 4:30-7 p.m.

Women’s Fellowship of Parkman Congregational Church is serving their annual Election Day turkey dinner with all the trimmings at the church located at 18265 Madison Road.

Cost is $12 for adults, $6 for children ages 5-11 and free for preschoolers. Adult size takeout is available.

Songs of the Civil War

Nov. 8, 7 p.m.

The Geauga County Genealogical Society will meet at Chardon Public Library, 110 E. Park St. Listen to “Songs of the Civil War” with music and narration by Wind, Strings & Ivory.

Veterans Day Party

Nov. 11, 1 p.m.

Hamlet Village Atrium, 200 Hamlet Hills Drive, Chagrin Falls, is hosting a Veteran’s Day ceremony and party in the Hamlet Atrium. Chagrin Falls VFW will present a program. All veterans will be recognized individually.

Veterans and spouses and friends of veterans are invited for live music with the Mike Jacobs Band. Refreshments will be served.

Holiday Meal Volunteers Needed

Each year, the Geauga County Department on Aging offers a Thanksgiving meal and a friendly visitor to seniors in the community who are home and alone for the holiday. Meals may be picked up at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive in Chardon from 10:45-11:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24.

Housing Coalition Chili Cookoff

Nov. 11, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The Geauga County Housing Coalition is holding its fourth annual fundraiser at Metzenbaum Center, 8200 Cedar Road in Chester Township. A portion of the proceeds will be used for homeless and at-risk veterans in Geauga County.

Numerous Geauga County agencies will have their special chili recipes for attendees to taste and judge.

Tickets are $10, which includes appetizers, chili tasting, corn bread and homemade desserts.

PTO Craft & Vendor Boutique

Nov. 11, 6-9 p.m.

Munson Elementary School PTO Craft and Vendor Boutique will be held at Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road. Enjoy an evening of shopping at a variety of craft and vendor booths. Prize raffle and refreshments will be available. Admission is $3 for adults.

Funds raised support the school. Vendor tables are available to reserve.

Gift Of Magi Boutique

Nov. 11-12

The annual Gift of Magi holiday boutique is Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township. The boutique features hundreds of handcrafted items by more than 35 vendors. Admission is free.

A preview party for adults only will be held Nov. 11 from 7-9:30 p.m. The $5 admission includes preview of the boutique, hors d’oeuvres and wine.

Join the Boutique Bounce on Nov. 11 and 12 by also shopping the boutiques at St. Anselm Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road in Chester, and Old South Church, 9802 Chillicothe Road in Kirtland. Participants will be eligible for one of three grand prizes by attending each boutique, getting a card stamped and turning it in at the last stop. Drawing will be Nov. 13; winners will be notified.

St. Anselm Christmas Boutique

Nov. 12, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

St. Anselm’s Women’s Guild will have their annual Christmas Boutique at St. Anselm Church, 13013 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.

The boutique features more than 80 area vendors, a snack bar, bake sale and prize raffle.

Admission is $1 and includes one raffle ticket.

Free Fresh Produce

Nov. 12, 9-11 a.m.

Newbury United Community Church, 14961 Auburn Road, will be hosting a fresh produce giveaway. Cleveland FoodBank provides the service to low income Geauga County residents. Please bring ID and bags.

Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Nov. 12, 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Mayfield United Methodist Church will host a community Thanksgiving dinner in the church’s fellowship hall, 7747 Mayfield Road in Chester Township.

Cost is $10 for ages 11 through adult and $5 for children ages 5-10.

Tickets available at the door. Takeout orders are welcome.

Proceeds will benefit the church outreach ministries.

Veterans Day Memorial

Nov. 13, 2 p.m.

A Veterans Day memorial will be held at the Geauga County Veterans Memorial on Ravenwood Drive, Claridon Township. A speaker and weapons will be provided.

Heroes Of Conservation Awards

Nov. 13, 2:30-5 p.m.

Protect Geauga Parks will host the second annual Geauga Heroes of Conservation awards and reception in the community room of Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road. The event will feature the presentation of awards, music, poetry and refreshments.

Leadership Geauga and the Burton, Chardon, Chesterland and Middlefield chambers of commerce will host “Creating Business Success Through a Positive Workplace” at Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road.

Arabica Coffee and Bada Bing Pizza will provide a free continental breakfast from 7:30-8 a.m.

The presentation and information sharing will begin at 8 a.m. Panelists include Hexpol Compounding- Burton Rubber Processing, e2b Teknologies and Nevar Dental.

Ohio Division of Forestry Class

Nov. 15, 6-9 p.m.

Join ODNR Service Foresters NE Ohio at OSU Extension Geauga County office, Patterson Center on the Burton fairgrounds, 14269 Claridon Troy Road, to learn about when, how and why to successfully execute a timber harvest.

The event is free, but registration is required by calling 440-564-5883. Space is limited to 65 participants.

Audubon Clarifies Bird Names

Nov. 15, 7 p.m.

Blackbrook Audubon will meet at Holden Arboretum in Kirtland. Dr. Andy Jones, chair of ornithology and director of science at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, will present this “Who Keeps Changing My Field Guide?”

He will discuss why common and scientific names of birds change in new editions of field guides since he is a member of the American Ornithologists’ Union, the organization responsible for bird taxonomy. The presentation is open to all.

Herb Society Meets

Nov. 18, 12:30 p.m.

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the Bainbridge Library for refreshments, business meeting and craft. Attendees will make two herbal hand warmers out of old quilts from Jennifer Casa’s book “Vintage Made Modern” and share culinary tools and tips with each other. Bring a needle and thread to the meeting.

Shopping Extravaganza

Nov. 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Auburn Firedevils, auxiliary to the Auburn Volunteer Fire Department, are hosting their fifth annual arts, crafts and consultants fair at Adam Hall, 11455 Washington St. in Auburn Township.

The hall will be filled with a wide variety of vendors as well as a Chinese auction, food and beverages.

Audubon Travels To Lorain County

Nov. 20, 8 a.m.

Blackbrook Audubon will visit Sandy Ridge Reservation, 6195 Otten Road in North Ridgeville, to search for winter raptors, resident bald eagles and waterfowl. Sandy Ridge offers wetlands, wet woods, and meadow habitats on a long, but flat trail. Bring binoculars and spotting scopes. For more information, call Pat Morse at 440-256-1404, ext. 2101.

iHeart Square Dance

Hunters may donate their deer to help feed veterans of Geauga County or anyone can make a donation to help pay for the processing of deer for veterans.
