CCAT Lebron Shoe Raffle

The Chardon Community Action Team is raffling an authentic LeBron James practice shoe provided by the LeBron James Foundation.

Tickets will be sold at all home Chardon High School boys basketball games Feb. 3-18. The raffle will be held during the last game.

Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The winner of the raffle need not be present at the last game to win.

All monies raised will be spent to support the mission CCAT to lower tobacco, alcohol, and drugs in our youth.

VFW Pancake Breakfasts

Chardon VFW Post 6519 will be serving its annual pancake breakfasts every Sunday, Feb. 12 through April 9, from 8 a.m. to noon at the post located at 752 Water St. in Chardon. For information, call 440-285-3699.

Herb Society Meets

Jan. 27, 12:30 p.m.

The Chagrin Valley Herb Society will meet at the Bainbridge Library at for refreshments, meeting and program on horticultural therapy.

The group tends to the herb gardens at the library, holds a plant sale in May and learns from each other about gardening and herbs and flowers.

Boy Scout Spaghetti Dinner

Jan. 27, 4:30-7:30 p.m.

Parkman Cub Scout Pack 4076 is hosting a spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction at Parkman Community House, 16295 Main Market Road. Carry out is available.

Presale tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for youth ages 5-12. Tickets at the door are $9 for adults and $6 for youth ages 5-12. Children under 5 are free.

Chinese auction tickets will be sold throughout the dinner. The drawing will take place around 7 p.m. Winners need not be present.

Protect Geauga Parks

Jan. 28, 1:30-3 p.m.

Join for a Protect Geauga Parks Sound Off at Old Russell Town Hall, 14890 Chillicothe Road in Russell Township.

Come out to express one’s opinions and concerns, ask questions and find a way to let one’s voice be heard. The discussion will be facilitated to allow time for all who want to make a comment. There will also be cards available to write comments.

Skylark Bruce, of Canton, will be the featured poet at Bistro 70 in Painesville. She writes and performs pieces as a woman, progressive Christian, vegetarian and artistic up-cycler. Her first poetry book was titled “I Wish.”

Swiss Steak Dinner

Feb. 10, 4-6:30 p.m.

Auburn Community Church, 11076 Washington St. in Auburn Township, will host a Swiss steak dinner and bake sale. Tickets are $11 for adults and $5 for children 5-10 years. Children under 5 are admitted free. Proceeds will go towards the purchase of a new electronic sign for the church.

Geriatric Pet Workshop

Feb. 12, 1-4 p.m.

Cold Nose Companions Dog Training is bringing veterinarian Linda Mitchell to speak to pet owners and professionals on providing proactive and responsive care for their geriatric dogs and cats at its facility located at 12531 GAR Highway in Chardon.

During “Arthritis and Beyond: Caring for Your Geriatric Pet,” Dr. Mitchell will discuss the physical needs of aging dogs and cats, how to avoid or delay the onset of age-related ailments, how to work with veterinarians to identify early indications of ailments and provide an overview of current available treatment options.

Cost is $50 per person.
